DCOA E*News At-A-Glance
The Mayor’s Annual Senior Holiday Celebration was rescheduled due to the
inclement weather on December 10. The
new date is Thursday, December 19, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the D.C. Armory. All tickets and parking passes previously
distributed for the event will be honored on that day.
Hope to see you there!
DCOA collected more food than all agencies participating in the ServeDC
food drive to benefit Food and Friends. The
agency collected nearly 410 pounds of food for those in need.
DCOA would like
to thank the Hayes Senior Wellness Center and the Langdon Education Campus PTA
for their generous contribution to their efforts.
"When Adult Grandchildren Become the Primary Caregiver" will be the topic for the next D.C. Caregivers Online Chat at Noon to be held on Tuesday, December 24 at 12 p.m. The web chat is a great opportunity for caregivers to receive information on resources available, tips to assist with caregiving or discuss best practices with experienced caregivers.
If you are not available, just check back in and hit replay to this or other web chats at your convenience. This resource is designed to assist caregivers that may need help with their daily caregiving needs.

The Mayor’s Office on Volunteerism is seeking volunteers from across the District to join the 2013-2014 Citizen Snow Team
that will clear sidewalks of elderly and disabled residents after it
snows. The District requires property owners (residential and
commercial) to clear the sidewalks surrounding their property within
24-hours after a snowfall. Even a dusting of snow can be too much for
elderly or disabled residents to shovel. Volunteer today to make winter a little easier on everyone.
Willing to assist those in need, click here to register.
