As an added bonus, the previously unreleased "Lost Levels" are included. These super challenging courses have never been available in this country until now!
From the Manufacturer
Super Mario All Stars is a collection of Mario's four greatest adventures in one awesome game pack. With improved graphics and sound for the Super NES, SMB1, SMB2, SMB3, and the Lost Levels, demonstrate the 16 bit excellence we've become accustomed to.
Released as SMB2 in Japan, the Lost Levels' design and play control will remind you of SMB1 but the challenge is far beyond any previous SMB game. The game features multiple scrolling backgrounds, 52 levels of play and lots of enemies for Mario to crush.

Super Mario Brothers. The game play is still the same as the nes version, but it looks SO much better with the 16 bit grapics. Even if you've played the old one so much you are sick of it (but if you are thinking about buying SMASm I would assume you aren't) it is still worth playing to see how much better it looks. This version also offers alternating players. In the old one, 1 player would play until they died. In this version, every time you die, or complete a level, it is the other person's turn. This is especially helpful if you have 2 people playing that are not equal in their playing abilities, so that the weaker player doesn't have to wait around for the other person to die before they can play.
Super Mario 2. Again, gameplay is the same, and again, it looks so much better than the nes version does. This one is kind of the "odd duck" Mario game, but still a very fun play. And with the ability to use 4 different characters, each with his own special abilities, this offers quite a bit of replay possibilities.
Super Mario 3. This game offers the least in terms of updated graphics, but WOW what a fun game to play. This is (in my mind anyways) the BEST Mario game that had been made up to this point. Of course, there have been several the people would argue are better since, but this one still finds its way toward the top of most "Top Mario" game lists. Tons of secrets, tons of upgrade, and hours of enjoyment.
The Lost Levels. I have taken to calling this one "Insanely Hard Mario Brothers." The level designs are just Like the original Mario Brothers, but make no mistake, every one of them is a challenge. Lots more enemies at inconvienant places, mushrooms that kill you instead of giving you an upgrade and jumps that are more difficult than anything the first one had to offer are just some of the things that you have to look forward to in this one. You can play as either Mario or Luigi, and each one has abilities that makes him better or worse in certain parts of the game. There are 8 incresingly difficult levels and if you actually manage to make it all the way through and finish 8-4...you find out that you are actually not done yet. IF you can finish the game without warping, you can go to World 9 (which was the ONLY World in the entire game that I find not too difficult) and then Worlds A-D. Which was obviously just the game designers evil plan to torment you more. Trust me, if you manage to get all the way through the game and the "extra" levels, you will feel like you have REALLY accomplished something.
This game is what you need if you are looking for an old-school Mario fix. Hours of fun and hours of cursing (at least if you play Lost Levels) is all available to you in this one game cartridge!
instead of simply having the game reset after we turn it off for the day.
The quality is perfect, and it does NOT have an issue as of yet regarding any startup. The only issue I am finding is that when I try to Save and continue from say, Mario Bros 3, world 2-3, and if you die, it takes you all the way back to 2-1 again. So whether or not the save function only works for the beginning of each world, or perhaps it is due to the type of dual console I am using, I have no clue.
Otherwise, wonderful purchase! I am looking for more as we speak!
The Plots for the games are the same as there NES/Famicom counterparts so nothing really has changed in that area but what is good is the fact were on the Super Nintendo with the games being remade beautifully and faithful for the 16 bit era.
The Controls for the game are great feeling for all 4 of them and being on the Super Nintendo is great to feel. The game has a save feature and it makes it easier on some games.
The music has been redone to sound like there original games but with more tunes to work with.
The game was re released one year later but this time it was the same game including Super Mario World which had came out 4 years prior.
The game gets a 10/10 and I think this was the first ever compilation which set the standards for future games to follow. It has been re re released on the Nintendo Wii for Mario's 25th anniversary which I may cover in the future.
See You Guys Then
