algrove Posted November 1, 2013 Share #1 Posted November 1, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just was informed I will get the MF grip next Wednesday or Thursday. Not bad since I only waited from 18 September 2012. They are finally arriving in the US apparently.

photolandscape Posted November 4, 2013 Share #7 Posted November 4, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I was notified overnight that B+H had received one or more grips. By the time I woke up and saw it out here on the West Coast, it was gone. Hopefully they will be arriving in droves in the next couple of weeks. At this point the wait is about equal to the gestation period of humans.

mblaze Posted November 5, 2013 Share #10 Posted November 5, 2013 I just got a notice that mine shipped from B&H today; should have tomorrow. Ordered just over a year ago.
algrove Posted November 5, 2013 Author Share #11 Posted November 5, 2013 I just got a notice that mine shipped from B&H today; should have tomorrow. Ordered just over a year ago. I was worried we'd get them so late that GPS would be superceded.
mblaze Posted November 5, 2013 Share #12 Posted November 5, 2013 I was worried we'd get them so late that GPS would be superceded. At least I got the camera, ordered at the same time, first (by about a month).

algrove Posted November 5, 2013 Author Share #14 Posted November 5, 2013 You probably got mine (decided to pass for now). No, it was not yours as I ordered it direct from Eric while at Photokina in Germany on 18 Sept 2012 at 4am US EST time and he told me I was the first on the store's list. furcafe Posted November 5, 2013 Share #15 Posted November 5, 2013 (edited) No worries, it was just a joke. I'm actually more interested in the GPS functionality for documentary work, & that obviously doesn't require an entire grip. algrove Posted November 6, 2013 Author Share #17 Posted November 6, 2013 got mine today! Did you get the GPS working without too much of a delay?
mblaze Posted November 6, 2013 Share #18 Posted November 6, 2013 Just unpacked mine. Serial number 0000544, FWIW. Haven't gotten it outside yet, so no idea of GPS performance. It doesn't seem to have acquired sitting in my office window, but that's no sign one way or the rother. It adds about 5 or 6 oz (they say 149g) in weight, minus whatever the stock baseplate weighs, and about half an inch of height. It throws the tripod mount a bit off center, and, of course, won't work with the RRS baseplate. So I'm not sure what to do if I want to use it on a tripod while also capturing GPS. One answer for QR needs is to get the RRS MC-L L bracket and then you can position it on the right side of the baseplate with the screw in position #2 (which puts the RF on top-yeah!). I am going to machine mine to remove portions of the lip used for centering so that it fits flush under the MF grip. In this way you can just leave the RRS L bracket on the MF grip and use the MF grips thumb wheel to remove it (together with the attached RRS L bracket) for battery and SD card changes.
