The Play's the Thing! Our Actors Need Plays

My students need a collection of scripts, reader's theater plays, resource books, writing materials, and props and costume pieces to enrich our drama classroom library and ignite our theatrical imaginations!

My Students

"I'm doing great today because we have drama class!" Each morning, our students start the day by pausing, owning and naming their feelings, and working through a reflective practice so they are ready to learn. Excitement and positivity towards drama class is a common theme during these daily reflections.

Drama provides opportunities for students to explore their emotions, move their bodies, practice teamwork and conflict resolution, build empathy, and feel free to be creative risk takers and to make mistakes.

In drama class, students support one another as they develop into a strong ensemble, capable of conquering anything they set their mind to. In order to provide my students with a rich variety of experiences we need your help.

My Project

My drama students have wonderful imaginations and have become master improvisers and playwrights as they collaborate in creating their own skits and plays. Unfortunately, our classroom is missing the necessary scripts and resource materials to support my students in bringing professional material to life and further inspiring them in their own dramatic inquiries.

Through this project, I am asking for support in purchasing plays, drama resource books, social-emotional learning texts and tools, puppets, and writing materials to inspire and engage my students as they hone their social emotional, collaborative, and expressive skills through the dramatic arts.

Your donation will help my students discover the history of theatre through acting out Greek myths and learning the art of Japanese Noh mask making. Your donation will engage my youngest learners by providing them with a collection of familiar fairy tales and fables, as well as puppets to inspire my shyest actors to take the stage. Your donation will support my diverse learners by providing them sensory tools to promote focus while reading and working in small groups. Finally, your donation will support my students in developing their social emotional skills by providing a collection of books for dramatizing on themes of teamwork, growth mindset, and making mistakes.
