Nirbhaya protester alleges rape

NEW DELHI: A 24-year-old woman, who had played an active role during the India Gate protests in wake of the Nirbhaya gang rape, has allegedly been sedated and raped by the official of an NGO in south Delhi, police said on Tuesday.
An FIR has been filed based on a complaint filed by National Commission for Women (NCW) to the South district police on the matter, sources said.
A case under Sections 376 (rape) and 328 (causing hurt by means of poison) of IPC has been registered at Vasant Kunj (north) police station on Tuesday night, the source added.
The woman has said in her complaint to NCW that the official had offered her a soft drink laced with sedatives at a meeting of the NGO she worked in and then forced himself upon her. The date and time of the incident is not clear as police haven't been able to contact her. Police will meet the woman on Wednesday and record her statement before a magistrate under Section 164 of CrPC.
