Power outages, numerous damages in East Texas in storm’s wake

TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - The maps of power companies in East Texas are beginning to light up again with red outage reports.

In the Kilgore area, there are nearly 11,000 customers without electricity Monday night, as of 10 p.m. Longview reports 3,168 without power.

Wood County Electric Cooperative has around 3,599 customers without power as of 10:55 p.m. Viewers in that area say the thunderstorms that blew through were strong and report limbs down. You can view the Wood County Electric outage map at this link.

In Smith County, viewers are reporting transformers blowing near their homes, as well as trees falling across roadways. Trees are going down around the area due to the already wet ground.

Oncor is reporting more than 68,000 people in Smith County without power as of 10:50 p.m. You can view the Oncor outage map by clicking here.

From the City of Tyler:

Multiple traffic signals throughout the City of Tyler are without power. Power lines and trees are down across the City.

The City is asking residents to avoid all non-essential driving. If you must drive, slow down. If you see water over the roadways, turn around.

UPDATE: Oncor asks residents to report down power lines to the Tyler Police Department’s non-emergency line at (903) 531-1000 or 911.

The City of Tyler has a free emergency alert system for residents through Smart 911 with RAVE Alert. Signing up for alerts is easy. Simply follow the RAVE alert link and create your Smart911 with RAVE Alert account. You will then be able to select which alerts from the City of Tyler, Smith County and surrounding areas you would like to receive.

Tyler Solid Waste and Tyler Transit services will not begin operations until daylight on Tuesday, June 4, due to downed trees, power lines and debris from the severe weather on Monday, June 3. Service for both may be canceled on Tuesday if the roadways are inaccessible as crews work on clean-up.

Further instructions regarding collection schedules and Transit service adjustments will be provided if services are suspended on Tuesday.

Remember to treat intersections without working traffic lights as if they were a four-way stop.

The National Weather Service says there are trees down in the Hollytree neighborhood of south Tyler.

Lindale ISD: Summer school and sports camps are canceled for tomorrow due to power outage, according to Lindale ISD on Facebook.

Whitehouse ISD - From the district:

Due to the widespread power outage Whitehouse ISD will cancel all summer school activities and camps for Tuesday, June 4.

ATTENTION SUMMER SCHOOL ATTENDEES AND SUMMER SCHOOL STAFF: Due to a widespread power outage affecting our community and Whitehouse ISD campuses, summer school for Tuesday, June 4 has been canceled. We will provide updates concerning summer school for the rest of the week. ATTENTION SPORTS CAMPS ATTENDEES: All sports camps and activities are also canceled Tuesday, June 4. Again, summer school for all ages, sports camps and activities are all canceled for Tuesday, June 4.

Rusk County Office of Emergency Management says there is widespread wind damage across Rusk County and Henderson from a likely straight-line wind event. Power is mostly out across the area and there are multiple lines and debris on multiple roadways and some are even flooding. If you have no reason to be out, STAY HOME and allow crews to work. It will take a majority of the night to clear up the most impacted areas.

In Van Zandt County, where there was a brief tornado warning during the 7 p.m. hour, is reporting around 3,600 customers without electricity. Click here to see the outage map for Trinity Valley Electric Cooperative.

Cherokee County ECA is reporting 2,621 customers without power at 8:45 p.m. You can see the Cherokee County Electric outage map here.

Panola County emergency management says there are trees down all over county, and power outages scattered all over the county; no reports of any structure damage.
