Duchess Kate did events with Holocaust survivors & Air Cadets today

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, at the Windermere Adventure Training Centre with RAF Cadets

The Duchess of Cambridge has some events today! It seemed like it was a surprise, but perhaps news of the trip was simply embargoed for the media. Kate went to Cumbria, where she’s knocking out a handful of events involving the Royal Air Force Air Cadets (one of her patronages) and she’s also highlighting the story of the Windermere Children. The Windermere Children are/were a group of 300 children who survived the Holocaust, and they were brought to Lake Windermere following World War II to recuperate. Kate apparently met with two of the surviving “children.” This follows her work around the few remaining Holocaust survivors, including her photography of those survivors.

She wore a puffy jacket with the Air Cadets, and then she slipped that off and wore what appears to be a blazer/jacket from Really Wild, a British label she’s worn before. She paired the blazer with jeggings, an old pair of boots (I’m sure we’ve seen those many times) and what looks like a simple cream crewneck sweater. Considering her new outfit last week, I think Kate is definitely signaling that she did a lot of online shopping for separates during the pandemic. As we saw last year, she also bought a lot of prairie dresses for some reason. Her hair has gotten really long. I wonder if the Queen is going to order her to cut it again

One of the things I’ve realized over the course of covering Kate and her events is that the “Early Years” was really forced on her as an issue, because they wanted her to be Diana Lite, and they wanted “cutesy with kids” photo-ops. But she probably would have preferred to work on senior issues and do more events with the elderly. She always seems to light up when she gets to hang out with older peeps.

Imagine being told by your MIL to cut your hair. Or by your employer.

    • Seraphina says:

Unfortunately, it still happens but much less obvious. I know within the Black community here in the US many have been turned down jobs due to hair style. So much so that a law was passed in VA to make it against the law. I have even heard of Black men shaving before interviews.
I had a manager (government job) tell me my nail polish had too much “color” and how he expected me to dress. Which made me do the opposite. I wore green and blue nail polish and wore pants and shirts in flats.

  2. Harper says:

She looks cute. But an olive green jacket? I am laughing. I know Meghan doesn’t own the color, but copying Meghan pretty much seems like a reflex now.

    • Layla says:

      @harper Lol I called it. I won’t say “I told you so” but…😂
In Meghan’s own words “you have to laugh at some point because it is just ridiculous” 😂😂

      • (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

To be fair, and I *hate* to have to defend Unable, but she DOES have quite a few utility jackets in olive that she’s worn over the last 10 yrs. So while she may be wearing them *more* now, we have seen her in this color over the years.

    • (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

Not loving the longer blazer. I know they’re a “thing” for fall, and she can carry it because she’s tall, but I don’t like the cut/pockets/belt on this one.

And maybe this is “nitpicky”, and she didn’t want to change pants for the two events, but even her black skinny JEANS would’ve been better than leggings on “official” events. FFS, she’s the FFKEENKWEEN (as she likes to remind us over and over). Dress like it. She really needs to look to Victoria, Mary, and Leti for some professional dress sense.

      • RoyalBlue says:

Something looks off with the combination of the separates. The jacket does not go with the jeggings and boots. Separately they are all really nice pieces to have in your wardrobe, but just not together.

      • Becks1 says:

I actually like the blazer, less for its length and more because it seems more fitted and well tailored than some of her blazers.

I am over those skin tight skinny jeans/jeggings/whatever we’re calling them now though.

      • Enny says:

I think when you’re meeting with elderly Holocaust survivors…even if it’s “fun” oriented and not a solemn ceremony, I think the occasion demands more respect than jeggings. A tailored pair of slim trousers would have been more appropriate (and also just a better look overall).

      • (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

Exactly, Enny. She’s had no trouble changing outfits btwn engagements before (the few she’s done tandem). But it does feel too “casual” for the situation.

      • LMR says:

Dressing appropriately for holocaust-related events has always been a challenge for KKKate. We need to appreciate the little victories – she did not theme-dress.

      • Justbitchy says:

Long torso=not good for this look.

    • Lorelei says:

@Harper lmao you called it yesterday!!

@Enny that’s an excellent point; I’ve always been stunned that she wears jeggings to any engagement because she’s technically “representing the Queen,” but you’re right— it’s particularly inappropriate to not dress with a bit more respect when meeting Holocaust survivors for the love of god.

Although this is the same person who wore a floral dress and sandals to a concentration camp, so.

    • Scandi says:

Olive and brown is bacically an English countrywear essential. This is actually not one episode of copying – this is just classics countrywear tbh 🙂

  3. Lizzie says:

Gee, I wonder who else has long hair. Kopy Kate strikes again.

    • Jais says:

The long hair and waves are standing out in a very SWF way. And the olive jacket lol! Which is actually a color that she’s worn before so that’s not really standing out to me as much. Its the long wavy hair more than the olive jacket that is evoking Meghan for me here. Lol idk maybe it’s just coincidence.
She seems like she’s enjoying this event. I wonder if her people read the comments here?

      • Lady D says:

I don’t think they read it. Posters on this site have printed some brilliant ideas to make Kate look great and actually accomplish something noteworthy with ease. If the grey men were reading this, some of the ideas here would have been implemented. Wouldn’t you think, anyway?

    • aftershocks says:

Right @Lizzie and @Harper, et al. It’s not just the long hair, it’s the way it’s styled which is definitely reflecting Meghan’s TIME 100 cover look. I’m sure Khate the copier already had the olive-colored jacket. The point is that KopyKhate’s overall choices for a very long time, have copied and/ or mirrored Meghan.

Look at the way Khate is posing with her hands in in these photos, and then look at Meg’s hands in the TIME covershoot! Khate’s previous event is another obvious e.g. of her Meghan-mirroring, with the baggy trousers and the handbag with the handle, and the constant attempts to simulate or copy Meghan’s hairstyles.

It’s way old and clearly obvious copying behavior on Khate’s part, @TheOG. Who here even needs to think about ‘defending’ Khate against what is clearly obvious!?

      • Lorelei says:

I think this one could go either way. Kate has obviously always had long, dark hair. But she does not often wear it in these kinds of waves, and it comes directly on the heels of everyone in the world talking for days about how good Meghan’s hair looked on the TIME cover. Idk…it could have been intentional (I wonder if she even realizes she’s doing it a lot of the time?), but who knows.

I think a lot of the time when people claim she’s copying Meghan, it’s a stretch— I mean, Kate has about a million blue coats and was wearing them long before Meghan came along.

But switching from clutches to small handbags was one very obvious change that imo was definitely attributable to Meghan, as well as wearing more delicate jewelry, often in layers.

Imo her hair is gorgeous, and hope the Queen doesn’t “make her” cut it, not only because I personally think it’s beautiful, but because her family members should have the right to wear their hair however they want to, regardless of what their 95-year-old grandmother-in-law thinks.

    • corralee says:

Who else has long hair? Ehrm, probably like at least a couple billion people on this planet?

Look, I think kates a lazy bum in general, but these types of comments are sorta crazy.

      • Seraphina says:

I agree. Kate, as it’s been pointed out above, has olive jackets and likes to wear her hair long. They are both women, so there will be some similarities. I am not a fan of Kate but I will cut her some slack in this post.

      • aftershocks says:

^^ It’s the obvious and intentional copying of Meghan’s styling @Corralee, not just wearing long hair. Don’t get it twisted or try to downplay Khate’s obvious intentional copying behavior, not only of Meg, but of Diana, and other royal ladies too. Khate does this because she has no clear sense of self, and no unique style of her own, excepting the overdone buttons, a style feature she cops to excess from Diana!

      • BeanieBean says:

Yeah, gotta say–we’re still in a pandemic & a LOT of women didn’t get their hair cut. As for the olive green jacket, that’s the standard color for utility jackets. Shoot, it’s a standard color in the fall.

      • Jais says:

Yes they both have long hair. However, Kate’s hair is noticeably longer, which isn’t a big deal except for the fact that Meghan has been wearing her hair longer for the past year and getting a lot of praise for it. Just because it’s a pandemic doesn’t really apply to Kate’s hair in that am pretty sure she still has the ability to cut her hair if she wanted.
Also Kate tends to wear tighter curls or leave it straight. This is styled in noticeably longer loose waves that are meant to reflect highlights in the waves. This is not a styling that Kate often does but it very specifically references the hair that Meghan just showed in Time magazine. Honestly, 3-4 years ago I would’ve also thought this was silly to blow up this detail. But after watching the pattern for so long now, it doesn’t seem unrealistic to believe this is a subtle appropriation of Meghan’s beauty and style. But again who knows maybe it is just a coincidence.

      • Becks1 says:

You all know I”m willing to criticize Kate for almost anything, but she has worn her hair this way before, and it has been getting long for a few months now (well I”m assuming we haven’t seen her in months) so I’m not going to jump on the “this is copying Meghan” train just yet. If she shows up at the Bond premiere with anything close to a Meghan hairstyle, I’ll come back and admit that this may have been copying.

What this look says to me more than copying Meghan is that she hasn’t been the hairstylist in a while (that’s when her waves/curls are smoother and tighter) so I wonder if this event was sprung on her pretty last minute – in a “you have to WORK goddamnit” kind of way so she didn’t have time to get her hair done? So that is more interesting to me.

      • (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

Meg is not the first woman to wear long hair in waves, or even a low bun with tendrils. There are COUNTLESS examples of this throughout the history of time. Kate has worn tendrils as well (remember when she cut those curtain bangs when pregnant with George and with …I can’t remember if it was Char or Louis, and I’m too lazy to Google it, but she did have those side hanging pieces). Kate’s also had super long hair most of the time, only cutting it occasionally (Let’s not forget she also put out there that “William likes my hair long” quote). Kate has also, as I wrote above, worn olive green (in casual jackets) for almost all of her 10 yrs. of marriage.

So, please…. we are obviously a Mega-Pro Meg gang here, but all of these things did NOT originate with Meg, and long wavy hair, tendrils, and olive green clothing will be around long after she’s gone.

      • Nic919 says:

Kate is quite diligent in maintaining her hair colour so I doubt she is away from her hair dresser for more than a month. While the long hair may not be specifically copying Meghan, she does copy her outfits a lot. Her beige blazer and navy blue trousers at the RAF engagement were almost an exact copy of the outfit Meghan wore when she visited that school in 2020. The only difference was that Meghan had better tailored trousers that were hemmed shorter. Even the type of purse was the same.
This outfit today may not be a copy but in general Kate is copying a lot of Meghan’s style.

      • Jais says:

Idk I’m still seeing the hair waves evoking Meghan? But it’s very fair to say that this could be over-critical on my part and it’s just a hair style. And I actually like this hair style on both of them. Interesting idea becks1 about this being a last minute event.

      • aftershocks says:

        @Becks1 said:
“You all know I”m willing to criticize Kate for almost anything, but she has worn her hair this way before…”

That’s NOT the point though. I don’t mention the copying behavior that is obvious because of desiring or being “willing to criticize Kate for almost anything…” I call out what I see that is obvious. As @JAIS said earlier, it’s ‘a pattern’ of behavior of purposely referencing Meghan’s style, and Diana’s style, etc.

So, of course, there’s no need to say that every single choice is a direct copy of Meghan, but that’s not what I’m saying. For me, it’s obvious that Kate not only copies Meghan, she copies Diana, other royal ladies, and her own mother too. So Kate is a cut-and-paste pastiche of different styles. She has no unique, definitive style of her own.

Also, no one has ever said that Meg’s hairstyles are completely new inventions, unique to her alone. It is the way Meghan rocks her styling choices, and the overall impact of how she puts together her chic, elegant, and edgy California girl style that has been influential.

Clearly, many women desire to emulate Meghan’s style choices. Kate picks out specific things she sees Meghan doing here and there. It’s a pattern of copying, and of referencing Meghan’s style, which doesn’t mean every single choice by Kate is a direct copy of Meghan. Still, Kate’s pattern of copying and of trying to emulate both Meghan and Diana, is obvious.

      • Becks1 says:

@aftershocks of course she copies everyone, that’s her MO.

But this? No, this hairstyle is not copying Meghan, and its kind of a ridiculous hill to die on IMO. Kate has worn her hair like this before, before she met Meghan. Kate has worn jeggings with long blazers before. Kate has worn olive before.

My point about being willing to criticize Kate is that there ARE legitimate things to criticize her for, and there ARE situations where she blatantly copies someone else – Diana, Meghan, whoever.

This is not such an example though.

      • Seraphina says:

So we can agree that Kate is not an original but a copy Kate.

What I do find funny is how that ring is always on her finger regardless of the event. She is bike riding and that bauble can be seen.

      • aftershocks says:

        @Becks1 said:
“But this? No, this hairstyle is not copying Meghan, and its kind of a ridiculous hill to die on IMO. Kate has worn her hair like this before, before she met Meghan. Kate has worn jeggings with long blazers before. Kate has worn olive before.”

If you look at my posts, you can see that I said it’s not about the jacket, nor the fact that Kate’s hair is long. It’s about the general pattern of copying behavior. I never said anything about jeggings or blazers either. I mentioned the baggy pants and the handbag Kate carried on her previous outing, both of which reference Meghan’s style.

Kate rarely wore trousers, and she never wore baggy pants to public outings before Meghan entered the royal sphere. Yes, Kate’s hair has always been long, but she started wearing her hair in straighter styles with waves, as a direct result of Meghan’s influence.

I agree that some posters citing the olive jacket and long hair are confusing the issue because in this instance, that’s imprecise overkill to claim as evidence of copying. That’s why I said it’s not about the jacket nor about wearing long hair. Kate’s hair has always been long. She just began changing it up more when Meghan came on the scene.

We are actually talking about the same thing, but misunderstanding because I think some people mentioning the jacket and the long hair provoked others to say they want to give Kate some slack. I think they’re wrong to cite the jacket color and long hair. But there is absolutely a pattern of copying the Sussexes and attempting to respond to the Sussexes’ every move on the part of W&K.

Plus, the royals in general have clearly been influenced by Meghan. We know this. But yes, posters should be specific. I will personally call out what I see. While I don’t cricize Kate needlessly, I don’t see any need to give her slack either. They aren’t giving M&H any slack with the nasty gaslighting and projecting.

  4. Rapunzel says:

Wait what? When did TQ order Kate to cut her hair?

    • ArtHistorian says:

I doubt that she did. It reads as a gossip theory. Once upon a time, people were obsessed with Kate’s hair being too long here. It was weird.

  5. Nic919 says:

It really makes no sense for these events to be embargoed. It’s not like crowds of people are going to rush to the lake or wherever they were biking. And Kate is the only one who has these surprise events without any press announcement. It’s much more likely that it is kept quiet so that a last minute cancellation can happen under cover if necessary.

Also if she wanted to work more with seniors she would. She doesn’t.

    • L4frimaire says:

What does it mean to embargo an event and why would hat even happen, instead of put it in the court circular? Is it to create more buzz around it, or is it a security thing? It seems they’d want to draw more attention to these causes. I feel like this site is one of the few ways people even know about what the royals are doing now. I don’t follow the tabloids or the Rota so have no clue. Definitely since the Sussexes left, it seems they aren’t getting the same amount of international press they used to for their appearances. There definitely used to be more write ups on these type of things, not just premier events like the Bond film, or maybe I just don’t pay attention to it anymore.

      • Nic919 says:

Normally the palaces send out notices to the press telling them about upcoming events the royals will do along with details about the time and location. Last week there was a press notice for William’s meeting at the fire station. So the press also ends up discussing the upcoming events. But with kate, often it is kept quiet up until the event happens or after it’s done. And since the press are there they obviously knew about it but they are prevented from saying anything until a certain time.

And more than one charity organizer from her patronages has said that often she cancels engagements at the last minute, but we never hear about it because they press is embargoed from reporting on the upcoming event.

The only time it makes sense to do that is if there are security concerns, as in their trips to Northern Ireland. But Kate has her events in England handled like this as well.

      • Becks1 says:

It means the event is not announced publicly ahead of time. the press usually know about it obviously, but that’s it. the idea behind it is to decrease large crowds waiting for the royals to arrive.

BUT I have never seen it used for another royal the way it is used for Kate. ALL of her events appear to be embargoed lately (or almost all of them.)

Really embargoing events to me only makes sense if you are doing something in the heart of London (so you don’t want to tie up traffic) and for genuine security issues – like all Northern Ireland visits are usually embargoed until they actually happen.

      • Jais says:

Hmm was the embargoing happening before the Oprah interview also? Maybe it’s so Kate doesn’t get asked any real questions, kind of like the one she got asked by Andrea Mitchell about Lilibet. Or maybe the embargo has slowly happened as she and William drifted further apart? Idk?

      • Becks1 says:

@Jais – yes, its been going on for a while now, even before the pandemic. I think its a combination of two things – to allow Kate to cancel at the last minute, and to explain why no one comes to cheer for her or whatever.

      • Nic919 says:

It’s been going on for years, but I think it was more obvious following the rose garden story being made public. She disappeared for almost two months in the spring and they worked hard to try to say it was related to school holidays.

    • aftershocks says:

^^ Yep, even down to the embargoing of events that Khate attends, is copying Meghan’s work approach when she was a senior royal. Most of the time when Khate does it though, there’s no clear reason to do so, aside from the copying aspect, and the embiggening of Khate. It must make Khatie feel self-important. Blah!

      • Agreatreckoning says:

Have the rr’s ever expressed outrage at being excluded from Kate’s events? Or are they just happy to report on the information given to them invisible contract and all?

  6. Sofia says:

You can tell she really enjoys these sporty events. There’s a difference (to me at least) in Kate in terms of interest in this event vs the RAF base event. She should really do more engagements in the outdoors if that’s what she likes. Maybe even focus on getting more kids into sport – gives her EY work a focus and is outdoors.

    • Becks1 says:

I think part of it is because she is busy. Its easier to interact with people when you’re riding a bike or hiking or something than if you’re sitting around talking.

    • Christine says:

I agree, Sofia, she should ONLY do the outdoor sporty events, as they are the only ones where she looks remotely interested! She looks more animated than she has in years!

      • Sofia says:

As @Becks1 said below, she shouldn’t be doing these engagements ONLY and she can’t do these engagements all the time. Not all engagements will be sporty/things she likes and as someone who’s been at this for 10 years and counting, that should be okay for her and she should work more and do the odd hospital openings etc etc.

    • Isabella says:

Sporty Kate is the happiest Kate. She also loves to be away from William. She always looks more relaxed.

  7. Chaine says:

She looks so much better and more relaxed in casualwear. Brow liner way overdone though!

  8. Catherine says:

This is the second event where Chris Jackson appears to be the only photographer present and ITV are the only cameras. Both events were outdoors so there was little reason not to have rota reporters there. William does his big Earthshot announcement on social media. Then there was that flurry of oh look at us we’re out and about paparazzi shots last week. I’m wondering are the Cambridge’s trying to limit Rota access. It must infuriate the British media and the royal family that the Sussexes are managing to garner so much attention without colluding with the media.

    • aftershocks says:

      @Catherine said:
“This is the second event where Chris Jackson appears to be the only photographer present and ITV are the only cameras.”

Honestly, even that situation of limiting press coverage to one outlet and a single photographer is copying M&H’s approaches to event coverage.

The only reason we even talk about Khate is because she’s there. She’s the Lily white, English rose, FF Keen Queen-in-waiting (barring divorce, which I doubt will happen). So we will continue to talk about the style-copying and about Keen Khate’s blah-ness and meanness.

I have absolutely no sympathy for Mean Keen Guevara. Contrary to Meghan’s generous throwaway comment during the Oprah interview, Khate is NOT ‘a good person.’

  9. Noki says:

This family is so bizarre imagine your granny in law telling you to cut your hair.

  10. Rai says:

As the mother of a young child, I hate volunteering for other young children…mama needs a break, plus it always highlights that I could be with my own kids vs someone else’s…so I do feel for her, if her interests lie elsewhere.

But again, talking to other people about their work is not the same as actually working. She should and could do more… what a waste of a platform.

    • Sofia says:

She’s getting paid millions of pounds a year by the taxpayers in exchange for doing these events. She knew she would have to do this. You really can’t compare her life to yours or anybody else’s.

      • Becks1 says:

@Sofia, exactly. I get what @rai is saying, bc sometimes volunteering with kids is the last thing I Want to do with my free time, lol, but this is work for Kate, not volunteering .

Also, so many are saying “these are the kinds of events Kate should do” – Kate should lots of different events. the time for her to lean in and focus only on events that she LIKES and ENJOYS was 10 years ago, when she was a new royal and was figuring things out. That was the time to get her used to royal work by playing to her interests and strengths and focusing on engagements that appealed to her.

She’s been at this job for 10 years. Not everything is going to involve sports or playing in the woods etc.

      • Sofia says:

@Becks1: “She’s been at this job for 10 years. Not everything is going to involve sports or playing in the woods etc.”

I agree. There are times/events where she will be doing sports and wearing tiaras but she also needs to do the opening a new hospital wing and visiting cancer stricken kids events too. She can’t coast on these sporty engagements only. And as someone who has said she should do more of these, I’m saying it from a place of “she does so little, maybe she can do 30 or so of these engagements a year on top of the bread and butter engagements she should be doing.”

      • Becks1 says:

@Sofia that’s where I am too. Like, if they can’t get her to work at all, then yes, throw her at these types of events that are easier for her and she enjoys, because some work is better than nothing. And like I said these types of events ARE what they should have started her off with – that was the time for the easier events to help her get used to the work. Or if they are going to bribe her somewhat – “do the hospital wing opening and then tomorrow you’ll go sailing and that will count as work!”

it’s sad that after 10 years its still considered okay for Kate to only seem to enjoy certain events and that people think she should only do the events she likes.

      • Sofia says:

@Becks1: again I agree. I’ve said it before but the palace really should have had her (and William) do a bunch of engagements back in 2011 so that they could develop their interests in things but also learn that they have to do the “boring” things as well. Should have built them up to do 300 engagements a year and then move them onto the big projects.

Maybe if they were regularly doing 300 engagements a year and had a few projects under their belt, they wouldn’t have felt so threatened by the Sussexes and the press’ interest in the Sussexes would have waned after the usual “new bride” press because the Cambridges were constantly doing things.

      • Rai says:

Im not comparing, just making an observation that if my job revolved showing up to hear about other people’s work, I would prefer to listen about things that interest me (literacy, technology) vs things that dont (other people’s children)

      • Betsy says:

@Rai – but she never works. So she doesn’t appear to have any interests at all.

      • Sofia says:

@Rai: But that’s not how any of this works. Listening to other people’s stories is nothing compared to the literal millions she’s getting in return. And these engagements are a maximum of 45 minutes. She’s not being forced to listen to a 3 hour lecture on the history of cheesemaking or whatever. And even if she was: she chose to marry William and be a senior royal. She knew what her life would look like.

Yes, she will find things boring and things not in her interests but as @Becks1 and I discussed above, it’s her job. You have got to do things in your job (royal or not) that aren’t interesting to you sometimes and that’s how life is.

I’m a tweed/plaid enthusiast, so while I don’t think the proportions with the leggings are super flattering, I’m just relieved not to see her in another Prairie wife getup! Can you imagine if she were to wear a well-cut suit to the Bond premiere? If only.

And the snarky part if me wonders if she told the air cadets “my children are very interested in airplanes”.

    • Ania says:

That is exactly what she said.

    • Roo says:

Your phrase “tweed/plaid enthusiast” is charming and I may borrow it.

    • Lorelei says:

@Jay I have read absolutely nothing about this engagement but can say with confidence that she most definitely said that at some point. It was probably the *only* thing she said, tbh.

    • Belli says:

Well would you look at that…!

“While speaking with Sgt Mark Curtis, Kate revealed that her kids are particularly keen on flying objects. “She did mention that her children are very interested in aircraft,” Curtis told T&C’s Victoria Murphy.”

  12. The Duchess says:

So glad Kate enjoyed a nice day out in the lakes, whilst the rest of us were at work. Again, I find myself asking what the purpose of this visit was?

  13. Susan says:

This time of year she always looks really good. (Not been working for 3 months perhaps?) These pics remind me of her first engagement after George was born…her hair was extra long and wavy like this, she was wearing an olive green blazer, and she was outside and I remember thinking at the time, this is when she is at her prettiest. A little more natural, doing something outdoor and without her husband. Interesting.

    • Lorelei says:

@Susan for some reason I was immediately reminded of that day too! I don’t remember what the engagement was, but she looked very relaxed and happy, and she looks very similar today.

I think I remember it because I loved the Ralph Lauren blazer she wore and I’m generally not a huge fan of her blazers, but also because she had a few visible gray hairs, and the media lost its sh!t over it.

One publication blew up a photo zoomed in on her roots, with one of those stupid red arrows pointing out the offending hairs. It was absolutely ridiculous. I emailed the link to a friend, like, “Can you imagine you have a few gray hairs and it makes international news?!” That kind of scrutiny is so beyond insane and always makes me feel a little sorry for her.

  14. sunny says:

She looks wonderful and genuinely engaged here. Rare to see her so engaged. She should definitely do more of these types of events

  15. tamsin says:

Good events for Kate. I think Kate should do more engagements with children and outdoors. She seems to do well with elderly people, too. I think on the whole they are very kind to her. The engagement with the Windemere “children” gives her interest in survivors continuity.

  16. Amy Bee says:

It’s amazing that the Early years project has just disappeared. There has been no follow up since the launch of the centre. Not even an announcement of the Head of the Centre or any of the projects they expect to carry out. This was really about her one-sided competition with Meghan.

    • dido says:

I’ve noticed the BRF are all about announcements. A paper coming out of a printer announcing an upcoming announcement next week of an important project! Prince William signing a sticky note and typing on an old typewriter announcing the announcement of his Earthshot prize presentation. The BRF announcing they’re going to hire a diversity tsar. Wills announcing he’s going to ben an air helicopter pilot during COVID (none of which happened, of course). I have a feeling this Early Years centre was just an announcement that will also go nowhere.

  17. Becks1 says:

I actually like both those jackets she’s wearing, and she was able to switch them out without looking too costume-y. Had you asked me what she would have worn to this event I would have said one of her field jackets so she proved me wrong, lol.

Two events in one week for the poor sausage though. And another event announced with the premiere! Poor thing, she’s going to need another vacation STAT.

  18. jferber says:

Have to congratulate her on this.

  19. Southern Fried says:

I’m sure it’s just me but the way she splays her hands when talking is annoying.

    • MangoAngelesque says:

@SOUTHERN FRIED — Definitely not just you. It looks so phony in photos, I can only imagine how awkward it looks in motion. It always looks to me like it’s her signal to her photographer to take her photo, because she’s doing her best “active engagement gesticulations.”

That and her slouchy posture bug the daylights out of me.

  20. MangoAngelesque says:

I assumed she lit up around the elderly because she was so excited to get fashion ideas from them. Older peeps are like walking, talking Pinterest dream boards for Kate.

  21. Matthew says:

she definitely dresses more like the older people

  22. canichangemyname? says:

I think it’s refreshing to see an article about Kate Middleton just doing something nice and what she’s wearing. I can’t get invested in the Kate vs. Meghan stuff. To me, her hair looks like it usually does but I guess longer? Never a fan of that hair on anyone tbh – I’m not a big “long hair” person but it’s fine. I usually do like her clothes though, and I think she looks nice here.

  23. MMadison says:

Kate is in full competition mode. It will get worst because she can’t help it. Kate sees another woman as competition….PERIOD (especially Meghan). She enjoyed the day because it focused on sporting activities and being on the water, her favorites. All that was missing was a cute guy to flirt with.

    • Nyro says:

Her stans fake stans aren’t even trying to pretend that they’re interested in Kate’s visit today. They’re still reeling over the Time 100 cover and now they’re in a frenzy over the upcoming Global Citizen appearance. It’s hilarious because they’ll do the obligatory retweet or a bare minimum comment, usually just an emoji or a “Yayyyy!!”, so that they look like they made an effort to support their fake fave, but them they’ll do whole threads about Meghan and stay planted under practically every blue check tweet that mentions Meghan. It’s hilarious. They pay Cain and Unable zero attention.😂😂

  24. Lizzie says:

IIHO, smiling while biking uphill and being photographed doing so show this was all about a photoshoot.

  25. candy says:

I actually really like the blazer. As a general rule, if you’re going to wear these type of jeggings it’s more professional with this length of top.

  26. Likeyoucare says:

I’m just currious about the photographer. If only her favourite photographer is allowed there, all the media will pay for the pictures to only one person.
Do kate get her cut from him?
    Is that allowed?
We already know that pictures of her children are paid to her.

  27. CC2 says:

I like the blazer. Whatever she’s doing to her face right now is working for her too. Can’t tell if it’s edited tho.
