Three people charged in the murder of an Addison man, including the man`s wife, were ordered held without bond Sunday by Du Page County Circuit Judge James Jerz. The three-Judith Benkowski, 46, wife of the victim; her friend, Debra Santana, 32, also of Addison; and Santana`s boyfriend, Edward Brown, 28, of the North Side-were being held in the Du Page County Jail in Wheaton, said Sgt. Howard Caldwell of the Du Page County sheriff`s police.

They are charged with murder in the killing of Clarence Benkowski, 67, who was shot in the head. His body was found on a bed in the Benkowskis` home Friday after police were called to the home by Mrs. Benkowski, who reported the death and an apparent burglary.

But on Saturday Mrs. Benkowski and the two others were arrested and charged in the killing. Addison police Saturday credited Chicago police, the Du Page County coroner`s office and Du Page state`s attorney`s office with aiding their investigation. On Sunday, Addison police refused to comment further.
