How happy I was to read Lisa Black’s well-rounded article “Vampires found lurking in suburbs” (Metro, July 24) regarding young adults interacting in role-playing games in the western suburbs. After the negative press the media gave role-playing games in the ’70s and ’80s, citing them as the cause of suicide, homicide and cults, it’s great to see both residents and police giving such intelligent and thought-provoking games a fair shake.

But to be fair to the store owners in the area who have seen business decline, wouldn’t it be a wise move on the players’ part to find an area less intrusive? Certainly some give-and-take on the part of the players would go a long way toward gaining them the social acceptance they feel they deserve.
