A barge converted into three levels of dining, banquet and party space is heading for the Mississippi River waterfront in Alton, Ill. The 48,000-square-foot Boat at the Riverbend has undergone a $3 million makeover and could open as early as next month. The boat, which will dock along the concrete wall of the old Lock and Dam 26, will seat around 2,500 people.
