I`m shocked.

Mike Royko`s condemnatory piece about a presidential commission`s assessment and censure of rampant pornography in our land is disgraceful. Because the Playboy mentality and progressive mind pollution have crept insidiously into the American way of life, the enormity of the devastation done to innocent lives has reached proportions endangering society in general. Yet, Mr. Royko has the audacity to attack a commission`s report and recommendations by ridiculing and besmirching its research.

He contends that the ”vivid examples of pornography” as described in the report will only incite readers to deviant behavior. He gives no credence to the real purpose for identifying the evil so that a concerted effort can be mobilized to combat the cancer of pornography. Ignorance and complacency go hand in hand.

Mr. Royko makes sport of a calamity that puts the men, women and children of our communities in danger of seduction, rape, abduction and murder. When people are in danger, it is time for action rather than malicious belittling.
