A 34-year-old University of Illinois Hospital nurse was raped and robbed early Tuesday in the garage of an apartment complex across the street from the huge West Side medical center.

The nurse told police she had worked the 4 p.m. to midnight shift Monday at the hospital and was going to visit a relative in the Campus-Green apartment building, 901 S. Ashland Ave., according to Sgt. William Rooney of the Harrison Area Violent Crimes unit.

Rooney said the woman parked her car on the second level of the garage and was seized by a man as she walked down the stairs to the ground level. The assailant grabbed her from behind, put his hand around her neck and pulled her behind a pillar on the garage`s first floor level, she told police.

The assailant then threw the woman to the garage floor and raped her before fleeing with $25 taken from her purse, Rooney said.

Meanwhile, Brighton Park Area police were searching for a 35-year-old Chicago Park District landscaping laborer who allegedly abducted and raped a woman Monday morning.

The 25-year-old victim told police that she was waiting for a bus at 8:30 a.m. at 55th Street and Racine Avenue when a man jumped out of his car, put a gun to her head and forced her into the auto.

The man drove the woman to the Fuller Park Fieldhouse at 331 W. 45th St., opend a second-floor office with a key and forced her into the office.

Police said the man raped the woman several times and left her tied up in the office before fleeing. The woman`s screams for help were heard by passers- by, who notified police.

Detectives questioned park district officials, who determined that a laborer listed in district files matched the description of the assailant given by the woman.
