A suburban Atlanta high school was evacuated Thursday because of a device that aroused suspicions but was later identified as a kitchen timer attached to a container of blue hand cream.

Investigators will review video from school surveillance cameras to find out who left the device in the hallway of Mt. Zion High School, Clayton County police Capt. Jeff Turner said.

The police bomb squad and a hazardous materials team from nearby Ft. Gillem were called to remove the device after the students were off campus, said Clayton County schools spokesman Jerry Jackson.
