With all the media attention given to pornography lately, I`m wondering why no one has brought up the constant barrage of prurient lingerie ads which newspapers such as yours continually run.

It seems that Marshall Field`s, in particular, has an inordinate number of such ads, usually full-page size. The store, and the newspaper, are using sex to sell; exploiting women a la Playboy or Penthouse.

Field`s carries a full line of goods of every kind from microwaves to silver services, yet, almost each week there is a large ad of nearly nude women promoting women`s underwear. This explosive kind of advertising, no matter how ”tastefully” done, is distasteful.
