Atlanta selected as site of Etkin Scholars Program
|
ULI Atlanta’s DEI Council was successful in being selected as one of five district councils to implement a program to strengthen relationships between colleges and universities and ULI by connecting District Councils with graduate and undergraduate students whose studies are related to urban planning, design, or development. ULI Atlanta will be hosting this program in partnership with Morehouse College and our DEI Council.
This program is made possible by Bruce Etkin, one of ULI’s foremost leaders and chairman of Etkin Johnson Real Estate Partners in Denver, who is giving $1 million to ULI to create the ULI Etkin Scholars Program. The program will debut early in the 2021-2022 academic year in Atlanta, Baltimore, British Columbia, Charlotte, and Colorado. In its first year, approximately 100 students will participate. Stay tuned for opportunities to be engaged!

| Savannah’s Plant Riverside District recognized as 2021 Americas Awards for Excellence
| |
Nine impressive developments from around the world have been selected as winners of the 2021 ULI Global Awards for Excellence. This year’s winners include three from North America, one from Europe, and five from Asia Pacific. ULI began the Awards for Excellence program in 1979 to recognize truly superior development efforts in the private, public, and nonprofit sectors. Winning projects represent the highest standards of achievement in the land use profession.
Savannah’s Plant Riverside District is the result of an extensive eight-year process, resulting in the comprehensive restoration of a landmark historic site, a quarter-mile extension of the city’s renowned river walk, creation of significant new public spaces, and compatible mixed-use infill at varying scales. It is a “mega-project” composed of numerous “micro-projects.” The result is a hub of vibrant urbanism redefining west River Street, integrally connected to Savannah’s National Historic Landmark District and the Savannah River.
