CINCINNATI (WKRC) - The Roger Bacon football team has never lost a game in its four seasons in the Miami Valley Conference Scarlet Division and Cincinnati Country Day went 9-0 the last two seasons in the MVC Gray Division making them the teams to beat in the league once again.

Roger Bacon won the last four MVC Scarlet Division titles, going 17-0 in league games in the process, and head coach Mike Blaut wants to keep that standard heading into the 2023 season.

"To us right now that's just the way we do things," said Blaut. "Anything less than that would be we'd be a little disappointed. Our goal every year is to be league champs, win every home game and do some damage in the playoffs when we get there."

While Roger Bacon has ruled the Scarlet Division, Cincinnati Country Day has taken the last two Gray Division titles despite being the smallest program in the conference. Head coach Dennis Coyle is heading into his fifth season and is seeing the fruits of his coaching staff's labor as the program continues to grow.

"The program fell a little bit, I think it was just the lack of continuity, and I think a lot of guys could've come in and done a good job here and got us right where we are right now," said Coyle. "It was just a matter of returning some stability in terms of what our philosophy is and what we're going to hang our hats on offensively and defensively. When I got here we just didn't have the commitment, and now ninety percent of our kids are here all summer long."

Roger Bacon will begin the 2023 season at Indian Hill, while Cincinnati Country Day will travel to Summit Country Day in Week 1.
