Beyond Sunset is an all-new first-person <del>cyberpunk</del> synthpunk RPG featuring high-octane action, graphics inspired by classic DOS games and an original story in a highly-developed game world. Beyond Sunset is powered by the GZDoom game engine. <img src="https://imgur.com/XklDhf4.png"> Beyond Sunset features RPG elements including NPC interactions with dialog trees, ability upgrades, a powerful arsenal of weapons with unique upgrades, and divergent storylines based on player choices. <img src="https://imgur.com/G9jyZgh.png"> Beyond Sunset is set in an alternate future following the collapse of world governments and stricken by a global pandemic caused by biological warfare. Sunset City, formerly known as San Francisco, is one of the largest remaining high-population urban centers in North America. Numerous political factions struggle for power in the city, resulting in a clash between organized crime syndicates, the authoritarian theocratic CSA, and the ever-present threat of a near-unstoppable virus outbreak. Despite the political turmoil, the MetaComputer Communications Technology Corporation (METACORP) has maintained some semblance of stability by providing access to Xanadu, a proprietary privately-owned virtual reality computer network. You play as Lucy, the victim of a botched hypersleep revival. Her failed cryostasis resulted in the loss of her identity and memories, as well as the development of new extraordinary abilities, superhuman strength and lightning-fast reflexes. A mysterious organization called The Church of Neurotology has recruited Lucy as a street samurai to execute their agenda in Sunset City in exchange for recovering her identity and restoring her memories.<img src="https://imgur.com/BoHDyLd.png"> The game consists of six episodes set in a range of diverse environments in this alternate future. Each episode is comprised of a single continuous open-ended hub level with environment-specific enemies, side quests and concluded with a unique boss battle. <ul><li>Prelude. GenEmp Corporation: GenEmp Corporation's research and development facilities in South Sunset City.</li><li>Episode 1 - Mad World. Sunset City West: A vibrant ethnic enclave controlled by a Japanese crime syndicate</li><li>Episode 2 - Hostile Takeover. MetaCorp Citadel: A futuristic citadel housing the massive MetaComputer that powers the global computer network known as Xanadu.</li><li>Episode 3 - True Faith. Redwood Forest: The compound and house of worship for the mysterious Church of Neurotology.</li><li>Episode 4 - Empty Spaces. San José Quarantine Zone: The apocalyptic ruins of a futuristic city by the ocean.</li><li>Episode 5 - Behold a Pale Horse. Sunset City West: A mysterious force has entered Sunset City West, causing the fabric of reality to distort.</li><li>Episode 6 - Dark Side of the Sun. Patrons supporting this project at Tier 2 (“Goshi”) and above are granted access to the &quot;prelude&quot; episode in December, ahead of the public release. Patrons who have subscribed at this tier for 2 billing cycles are entitled to a copy of the full game when it is released. Patrons supporting this project at Tier 3 (“Hatamoto”) and above are granted access to the Prelude &amp; Episode 1 before it is available to other tiers, as well as a credit of 'Producer' in the credits. Additionally, patrons at this tier may choose to have an NPC named after them, as well as the option to include a personalized dialog tree. Some restrictions apply, not every custom dialog will be accepted. We reserve the right to decline to include any user content if it does not meet our quality standards. Patrons supporting this project at Tier 4 (“Ronin”) and are granted access to monthly in-development builds of the game before it is available to other tiers. Members who are subscribed at this tier are granted early access to new episodes as they become available. If you are interested in modding Beyond Sunset, patrons at this tier may also submit mods for inclusion in the game as secret levels. Some restrictions apply, not every mod will be accepted.
