She was in taco hell.
A TikTok influencer has gone viral on social media after recounting the “worst first date ever,” in which her prospective beau allegedly tricked her into buying him 100 tacos. A clip chronicling her maddening meet-up boasts 14 million views.
“I haven’t been to a @tacobell since,” TikTokker Elyse Myers — known on the platform as @elysemyers — wrote in the video recap of the incident. The Tokfluencer posted the clip in response to a fan who had asked about her most disastrous dating experience.
“What’s the worst first date I’ve ever been on? I’m so glad you asked,” recalled Meyers. “Before I met my smoke-show of a husband, I was on dating apps. This man messages me out of the blue and goes ‘I like your face, let’s go get some food.’ ”
Despite the oddball pickup line, Meyers agreed to the date, whereupon he set off yet more alarm “bells.”
“I drove 45 minutes to his house. He’s standing outside of that,” the regretful gal recounted. “He walks up to my car and he goes, ‘I’ve lost my keys. Can you drive us there?’
“Should I have just left him right there and gone home? Yes. Did I? Absolutely not,” she continued.
The night got even more nightmarish when they drove to a Taco Bell drive-thru, per the creeper’s request, and he leaned over and said, ” ‘I would like 100 tacos, thank you,’ ” she remembered.
“We get to the window and he starts patting his body and I was like, ‘Did you forget your wallet?’ ” lamented the bedeviled woman, who ended up shelling out $149 for the tortilla fiend’s ludicrous order.
However, that was only the tip of the iceberg.
“I buy the 100 tacos and I asked him, ‘Where do we go now?’ and he said, ‘Back to my house,’ ” said Meyers, who obliged against her better judgment. “Ok, this is happening. I’m committed to this now, it’s happening.”
Upon arriving at the freaky fellow’s house, Mr. Wrong dumped out the 100 hardshell tacos on the table and screamed “Let’s Feast!” at the top of his lungs, the appalled woman recalled.
They then proceeded to eat their titanic Tex-Mex haul in “complete silence,” whereupon they were joined by her date’s father.
“The dad walks up, grabs a taco” Meyers said, adding that he started devouring his quarry over them while standing next to the table. Dad kicked the awkward meter into overdrive after leaning over her with a mouthful of taco and asking if she wanted to see his studio.
“I was like, ‘I have never wanted to see anything less in my entire life,’ ” said Meyers, who decided at that moment that the date “was completely over or else I was going to be killed.”
Thankfully, she managed to scrounge up some reparations for the horrific evening. Meyers recounted leaving the house with boxes of tacos — containing 94 in total — before turning to the son and father and saying, “Thank you for this experience — you will never hear from me again.”
Meyers’ wild story captivated her 200,000 TikTok followers.
“Someone please animate this story,” gushed one enthralled fan.
“Your story-telling style is so captivating,” said another.
“I’m so happy you took your tacos with you,” one ride-or-die girl wrote. “You may have been going with the flow in the beginning but by the end your priorities were good.”
“Those were MY damn tacos.” Meyers replied.
One social media comedian joked that her BF-not-to-be mistook the dating app for Uber Eats but was “too embarrassed to say anything.”
Tinder’s official TikTok account even weighed in, writing: “Ok as @tinder I’ve heard A LOT of bad dating stories but as of 10/7/2021 this one is top 10.”
In light of the tsunami of comments, Meyers subsequently posted two follow-up vids on the “taco guy saga” — one of which describes in detail how she escaped with and ate all of the nearly 100 tacos.
This isn’t the first time a bad date has made an unreasonable food request. In January 2020, a self-proclaimed “King” labeled his girlfriend “poor and delusional” for offering him a home-cooked meal instead of dropping $50 on dinner from Red Lobster.
