ITV News is seeking a Producer, based in Wales and the West of England, to drive our coverage. We require someone with a passion for breaking news, a hunger to discover distinctive content in Wales and the West of England and an understanding of the ITV National News audience. The successful candidate should also have a strong understanding of how to deliver for digital and nonlinear platforms.  
  • The ability to be multi-skilled and work across tv, digital and nonlinear platforms 
  • To work closely with the West and Wales team to produce packages and live reports of the highest quality 
  • Carry out research, interviews and filming for breaking news and distinctive content 
  • Work on-the-road and understand the demands of being on-location, with the ability to travel at short notice 
  • To write scripts, brief graphic designers and undertake some output production when required 
  • To have, or to be able to acquire, technical skills in support of the multiskilled technicians deployed on stories 
  • To develop those skills in order to be a flexible resource for ITV News, including covering shooting and editing disciplines as and when required 
  • Ensure that all material is delivered on time for transmission, giving appropriate opportunity for pre-transmission checks, eg – technical and compliance checks 
  • Building and maintaining a vast network of contacts in the nation and region 
  • To write content for our digital platforms and think of innovative treatments for television and online 
  • To work closely with the News Editor, Regions and Nations, as well as ITV Regions

  • A good understanding of all news technologies used in the field and to embrace new technologies – self-editing, self-shooting and an ability to publish on digital platforms are desirable    
  • A good understanding of news priorities for Wales and West of England coverage and an ability to turn that into polished television for national news 
  • A commitment to creating news coverage that reflects the diversity of Britain’s communities 
  • High-quality news judgement and the initiative to work independently or as part of a team 
  • Calm under pressure in all environments, and able to adapt to a changing situation 
  • Capable of working to tight deadlines 
  • A rich pool of ideas for stories, angles and treatments 
  • A creative and innovative approach to stories and newsgathering 
  • A full, clean UK driving licence 
  • Responsible for managing a safe working environment when out in the field 
  • A knowledge of Ofcom guidelines
