Duchess Kate & William took their kids on a ‘pub lunch’ with a photographer

Royal visit to Durham

At the end of the day, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had a completely lovely royal tour of New York, doing the events they wanted to do and meeting the people they wanted to meet. They got a great reception, they made important donations to important causes, they met with local, state and international leaders and they furthered their American Royalty brand. Their reception was so overwhelmingly positive in New York, the British press came across as completely unhinged with their increasingly hysterical and nasty coverage throughout the trip. So it was time to give some red meat to the Little Englanders: look, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took their kids out for a “pub lunch.” And shockingly (!) a photographer from The Sun was there to document the whole thing. A convenient “witness” was there to further the Keen agenda:

William and Kate were a picture of family bliss as they enjoyed a pub lunch with their children yesterday. The pair looked relaxed as they sat on a wooden table with Princes George and Louis, and Princess Charlotte tucking into chips and burgers. The family, including a black spaniel, were enjoying a classic English beer garden lunch in Norfolk yesterday.

The pair spent quality time with their children in a heartwarming scene families around the country would recognise.

Heir William tucked into a burger and chips – and showing himself as a modern dad was quick to comfort and console one of the youngsters when their food was too hot. George, usually dressed in a tie and blazer when on public engagements, looked casual in a t-shirt, shorts and trainers. The Royal pair looked relaxed and happy as they wound down after a busy run of public engagements.

A witness said: “It was amazing to see how down-to-earth the family were. It would have been easy to miss them – and just assume they were any other family. They were laughing and chatting and clearly enjoying each other’s company. They were eating outside, I suppose because it was easier for the children. There was no security around, just them chilling like any other family. Wills had a burger and chips. They had their pet dog, a spaniel with them, and they were all laughing. There was one particularly touching moment where one of the children got upset because their food was too hot. William was so fast to reassure them and sort them out. It was fantastic to see.”

[From The Sun]

This is actually the first time William and Kate have been photographed together since July 11th. Kate hadn’t been photographed or done an event for two months and four days before she went back to work (solo) this month. I wonder what calls were made and who ordered what? Was this William and Kate being complete desperados and wanting to take attention away from the Sussexes’ successful trip? Or was this a situation where the British papers yanked the keen chain and got them out of hiding? Hm.

This is how you know for certain the Sussex’s tour was a success….Enter William, Kate and of course the children. 100% certain all KP’s idea..they are so clueless

    • Seaflower says:

I’m struggling to understand how “modern dad” = cooling your child’s food.

      • Merricat says:

Lol. My thought was, what sort of child is upset because their food is “too hot?” Goldilocks? Staggering.

      • Eurydice says:

I love the totally not rehearsed report from the witness (apparently writing the next great British novel)- “There was one particularly touching moment…William was so fast to reassure them…blah…blah…”

      • Kviby says:

If the food is too hot to eat you’ll burn your mouth. Goes for adults too not just kids

      • Drea says:

“Modern dad” the British Royal definition: interacts with children (in public) instead of getting the help to tend to them.

    • Merricat says:

Right? And as a child, did you ever need reassurance that your too-hot food would cool?

      • MMadison says:

But we must also talk about the witness. How close did this so called “witness” get to the Cambridge’s. The details from the “witness” was just unbelievable. This person was able to determine that there was NO security for the 2 future heirs and spare so creeped in closer to observe William cooling off food for an upset child who I assume was so hungry he couldn’t wait for it to cool??? The witness was also able to take a photo (without being notice because the Cambridge’s had no reaction) and run to the Sun to testify on how the Cambridge’s are just a normal typical family. I mean really KP is this all you have??? I can hear the polite and knowing chuckles from Montecito.

      • The Duchess says:

*Enter Ma Middleton as Credible Witness #1*

      • JMoreno says:

This is the best photo the “witness” could get? William incandescent with rage

      • Becks1 says:

Kids sometimes do need reassurance but this story is so obviously planted and fake that I don’t think its worth debating, lol. IF anything someone saw William blow on one of the kids food and thus we have this story about him reassuring one of them etc.

      • locamg says:

I have a three year old. She needs reassurance her food will cool. Isn’t Louis around that age? (Didn’t read all of the article, so maybe George is the one who needs the reassurance…..in which case, you’d think an older kid would have connected the dots.). Additionally, kids on the spectrum or children with sensory differences have sensitivities, so that could be it too…. I understand most commenters are quick to criticize William and Kate, but sometimes kids do have these things.

      • Amy Too says:

JMoreno, seriously, William looks absolutely positively offended by whatever he’s looking at. He looks super pissed. Is this just his face now? It just does this all the time now? This pissed of scowl of derision?

      • LMR says:

@Amy Too, I believe that is what is known as Resting Bitch Face. This prince has really perfected it, hasn’t he?

      • MMadison says:

Well why is William so upset? Could it be Charlotte telling William her food is to hot, thus annoying him? Is it because Kate set up the outing with the “witness”? Is it because George didn’t wear a suit? …… so many possibilities

      • Nic919 says:

Logistically I am wondering how burgers carried from the counter to a picnic table outside and a few minutes away would still remain too hot to eat. Just how hot were they burning the food?

So put me in the “this was totally made up to make William look like he is a good dad despite the photo showing him look grumpy” column.

      • BothSidesNow says:

@ AmyToo, you have such fabulous insight!! You know how to get to the bottom of matters in minutes. But yes, I think that the facial impression of TOB is permanent, I am afraid to say!

      • Isabella says:

French fries can be too hot when they come out of the fryer. One need only wait for them to cool off. I hope William didn’t blow on them. the kids look cute. There’s that.

    • Mrs.Krabapple says:

Of the three faces that we can see (i.e., the majority of the people at the table), none of them look happy. And this was the BEST picture the photographer could come up with. Where is the laughter the witness promised?

      • BothSidesNow says:

Excellent point Mrs.Krabapple!! Where are the smiles of joy and togetherness? Oh, I guess those feelings were left at home!!

  2. Seraphina says:

Who the hell writes this stuff????? It reads like a sappy Hallmark Holiday special. Good grief. And yes, to take the light off what H&M did – they push the “family” story. We see you 👀

    • JMoreno says:

It was how the Royal Family was reported on in the 1800’s…LOL

    • Pao says:

A “normal” family who probably took a helicopter from London to Norfolk for the weekend while the country is struggling with a petrol shortage. Isn’t that lovely?

    • BrainFog 💉💉😷 says:

I came here to ask the exact same question – who writes like that? I got diabetes just from reading it. My brain hurts.

    • Belli says:

Maybe the writer’s pay was based on the number of positive adjectives, so they really crammed them in there.

    • Lorelei says:

@Seraphina, I know! The way this was written is actually hysterical and I was dying reading it.

The “witness” is so obviously a fictional character created by Jason Knauf, who also wrote the “witness’s” account of all of these details— because the witness would have had to have been curled up under the Cambridges’ table to overhear all of this. Lmao.

Eating lunch was “bliss?” Can they teach me their secret to making lunchtime blissful? William is a “modern” dad because he…helped his child whose food was too hot?

This article would have been hilarious anytime, but coming right on the heels of everything Harry and Meghan just did in NYC, it’s __especially__ pathetic.

And these are the same people who lambasted Meghan for her flowery, “overly earnest” writing in Vogue.

@JMoreno I bet William actually loves the photo and set it up so that Kate’s back was to the camera. He’s still pissed, but he couldn’t bench her for this one, so he did the only other thing that would make her mad: prevented them from getting a good picture of her— or even having her face in the photo at all, for that matter. She’s probably seething.

    • Seraphina says:

@Lorelei, as I re read, I could have sworn I could see the forest animals gather around as the princes and princess gleeful shared some of their food with them. As the heir (should we not forget) William chuckled to himself when a bluebird perched on his shoulder and chirped a melody close to God Save the Queen….while the Duchess looked down at her ring finger and smiled as she looked the blue sapphire ring and whispered – my precious.
Disney and Hallmark need to take some lessons from the writers FFK and FFQC have enlisted.

  3. JMoreno says:

William never looks happy when he’s with Kate

    • TIFFANY says:

Never. He doesn’t even look at her when they take non work photos together. Even work photos they don’t.

Someone showed them the video of those school kids hugging Meghan and Harry. Not only hugging them, but rushing to do it.

      • Lorelei says:

@Tiffany, I wonder what they’ll do after Elegant Bill sees the video of the exceptionally long standing ovation — accompanied by cheering and screams of excitement — of the Sussexes as they walked onto the stage on Saturday. And that they had to pause like three more times during their speech because the applause was so loud.

Someone should make a side-by-side thingy (I’m not very tech savvy, clearly) of that video of the Sussexes next to the one of William and Kate walking to their seats in DEAD SILENCE at the BAFTAs that one year 😂

New Yorkers don’t usually get that excited about *anyone* but it’s as if everyone in the city collectively lost their sh!t at merely breathing the same air as Harry and Meghan for the few days they were here.

    • Harper says:

A quick zoom-in on the photo reveals zero smiling and laughing amongst the happy family.

      • GraceB says:

While this is obviously set up, I don’t think you can read so much into one photo. How much more fake would the whole thing look if they’re all smiling and laughing? They look like any regular family eating out. That’s what they were going for.

      • Harper says:

Yes but this is a set-up. I think they needed to get George’s face in profile at least for the pic to be worth anything. Thus having to make do with the grim expressions of everyone else.

    • Noki says:

One of the few times ill defend the Keens. Sometimes its hard to forget these two have been together for 20 years now, they have long passed the honeymoon stage.

      • HeatherC says:

My parents were together for 43 years. Dad never looked annoyed to be in my mom’s presence.

      • Sid says:

I don’t expect lovey dovey honeymoon behavior, but I do expect to see a pair that look comfortable and content in each other’s company. Charles and Camilla do. Felipe and Letizia do. Victoria and Daniel do. Meanwhile these two don’t even look like they like each other much.

      • Lizzie says:

‘they were all laughing.’ Is scowling how the English ‘laugh’? Quite shocking the personal photographer totally failed to get a pic of an actual laugh or smile. Or, you know, it’s all a fake, fake, fake photo op and this is the only face ffk can make in the presence of ffq.

      • swirlmamad says:

No, it’s not going to be gooey lovey-dovey eyes after that long, but I’ve been with my husband nearly 20 years, and we still look each other in the eyes when we talk to each other, laugh at shared jokes, and even hold hands sometimes when we’re walking down the street. My issue is that the BM loves to shove down our throats how they are such a strong, solid couple and family unit, who truly enjoys each other’s company — and there is absolutely nothing about their behavior and body language that backs up that claim. William almost never looks Kate in the face and on the rare occasion he does, looks annoyed and put out that he has to acknowledge her presence.

      • aftershocks says:

        @Noki said:
“One of the few times ill defend the Keens. Sometimes its hard to forget these two have been together for 20 years now, they have long passed the honeymoon stage.”

Why do you think Keen Cain & Unable need defending about anything, particularly about this performative photo-op???

The ‘witness’ specifically reports that the Lamebridges had a good time laughing together during their obviously set-up pub outing. We don’t see that in these pics, and we never truly see any relaxed, genuine enjoyment between these two in public. Their fake smiles when they are being snapped together (rarely these days) are always performative.

I agree with other posters that it’s one thing to be a happy and comfortable 10+ years married couple with kids, and quite another to be the Lamebridges ‘trapped’ together in all their royal FF heirness/ messiness. Frankly, even during their 10-year dating phase, Will cheated and stalker Kate enabled as his convenient, on-call side-piece. Let’s not forget that either.

If Willileaks and Khate could have just once let go of their petty insecurity and obvious jealousy against the Sussexes! But no, they never did, they never have, and by now, it’s too late and a billion dollars short. As they ‘tuck-in’ to their pub fare, they are infinitely stucked-in to their petty jealousies, their tied-at-the-hip gaming with the media, and their miserable gilded-cage relationship.

Again, why ‘defend’ any part of this? I personally hope to see all or any of the Camebridge kids grow up to rebel big-time against all the performative nonsense and the way out-of-date, faux, toxic British royal brand!

      • Nic919 says:

There is a difference between not being lovey dovey and scowling. And William has been scowling at Kate for years now. No solid marriage has its partners interact like this all the time. They look like a divorced couple doing an outing with all the kids.

    • Debbie says:

“William never looks happy when he’s with Kate.”

That look on William’s face is backed-up bliss. It looks a lot like constipation, but rest assured it’s bliss alright. Bliss.

      • aftershocks says:

^^ LOL @Debbie, I’m not too sure of your meaning. Perhaps you mean: ‘Ignorance is bliss!’ In the case of Heir Wilhelm, we all know his ‘bliss’ is incandescent with rage-filled ignorance. 🤪

  4. L84Tea says:

Wow, the desperation. How did I know they would make an appearance in the next couple days? “Harry and Meghan ate at a restaurant. William, we need to eat at a restaurant toooooo!!” They are so predictable!

    • Seraphina says:

OMG, that’s right. It did not come to mind this early in the AM, but YES! That is HILARIOUS. Well, at least they know how to be transparent. That’s a key buzz word, but they are executing it incorrectly.

      • Lorelei says:

@Seraphina, you’re so right at “transparent is a key buzz word, but they are executing it incorrectly.” I’m laughing so hard. How do they not realize how obvious (and pathetic, but mostly obvious) this looks? LMFAO

    • Jais says:

Wow. Same reaction, L84TEA. Feels like someone wanted the message out that they spend time with their kids whereas the other couple just jets off to nyc. I shouldn’t be shocked but somehow I always am lol. And the reporter just happened to be there?

      • L84Tea says:

The press even pushed that angle over the weekend trying to put a negative spin on H&M being in NYC (without their kids–how dare they!!). I’m not shocked at all the Cambridge kids immediately got trotted out.

      • swirlmamad says:

This is Flybe stunt 2.0…..”SOOOO what can we ding them for??? Ahhh — they left their kids to travel cross country, quick, let’s get out there with OUR kids to show what loving devoted parents we are!” PUH-leeze. 🙄

      • Nyro says:

The Sussexes in NYC for three whole days without the kiddies??!! Just wait until the British press finds out that Betty and Phil would go royal tours and leave their kids for like three or even six months at a time.

    • NiqGee says:

I laughed so hard when I saw that the children were being trotted out. It’s so transparent. Whenever they are being given bad press or someone (read: Sussex) is getting good press, the kids have to do a pap-stroll. I hope Charlotte and Louis can escape to Uncle Harry at the earliest possible time.

  5. Pao says:

Idk about you guys but i’ve seen more pap pics of the Cambridge kids than i have of their cousins who live in the “paparazzi capital of the world”

And on top of everything, you can tell that the “source” is somebody from camp Cambridge because they emphasize way to much how “normal” they are. I wish the source could have added how they arrived in Norfolk for the weekend.

    • SarahCS says:

What do you mean? Just a ‘normal’ helicopter ride like all the other normal families.

Neve mind that a school in the South East just announced that they may need to go back to online learning this week if teachers and kids can’t get in because of the fuel shortages. Yep, the Cambridges are JUST LIKE THE REST OF US.

      • Pao says:

And all people will have to say is “aww how sweet”.

      • Lyds says:

There is nothing more “normal” than staging paparazzi pub lunch pics where “witnesses” make sure you don’t have any security around! Also, we’re supposed to swoon at the idea that an 8-year-old is wearing trainers instead of his usual bespoke suit-and-tie. NOR-mal!

“Normally,” this would raise red flags for me, but I just can’t hate on how unstaged/natural this all is!

    • Ginger says:

And no security? Come on. And the fact that this article stresses how “normal” they were and all the “chatting and laughing” This is so sad. I would feel sorry for Will and Kate if they weren’t awful people.

      • Pao says:

@ginger: its truly pathetic. Meghan and Harry had a wildly successful weekend in NYC where they met with dignitaries and diplomats and participated in an event that raised a billion for vaccine equity.

And all they have is a family pub lunch in norfolk?

      • Talia says:

If there was actually no security, someone needs to be fired since anyone who gets close enough for a photo is close enough for a gun shot.

Having said that, I have no doubt there was security and that the photographer was carefully cleared in advance.

      • Nic919 says:

It is a pure lie to say no RPO was around. They would never be in a public location with their kids like that without several RPOs.

  6. Becks1 says:

I laughed so hard when I saw this headline yesterday.

First – the whole “dont forget about ME” vibe. Second, trotting out the children, as predictable as clockwork. Third – they’re eating at a restaurant, which is something I don’t think we have ever heard stories of them doing as a family*, the most we hear is that Will and Kate get a drink at the local norfolk pub.

This definitely is “dont forget about me” with a side of “we can eat at restaurants too!!”

And the fact that there are pictures? Yes, this is 100% KP sanctioned. Someone okay-ed everything about this.

*please note I am not saying the children have never eaten at a restaurant. We have just never heard reports of it – complete with pictures – before. So George is 8 and this is the first picture we have of him eating in a restaurant?? Yeah, I’m sure the timing is completely coincidental.

    This family is so predictable.

    • swirlmamad says:

      LMAO….right???!?!? Obvious is SO obvious.

    • sunny says:

This is about as subtle as a slap to the face. The strategy isn’t entirely a bad one- learning into British tropes, appealing to their “Little England” base but like all things Camp Keen the execution is trash. The will never out glam the amazing Sussexes and they don’t have their substance either so they need to go a different route.

The quotes are way over the top and the timing is too obvious. Like how you going to stage this the moment the New York trip ends? It is desperate. They and their team are just so stupid- all the lols.

    • RoyalBlue says:

This is the part that got me, ‘…as they wound down after a busy run of public engagements…’

Hahaha. The public has been hoodwinked.

It is obvious that the royal family is the Rota’s personal toy to play with, dress up in pretty clothes, and make the family sit and eat together. It’s madness, but KP has to play along.

      • Nic919 says:

Yes that was hilarious. Kate rode a bike, took a boat ride and played some tennis and Billy played footie. What a busy week.

      • Becks1 says:

Also, maybe they literally just meant the lunch was the “winding down” but they make it sound like they are getting ready to disappear again. They were out and about for a week or two, now its vacation time again.

ETA oh wait I forgot about the Bond premiere. So after that, vacation.

    • Nic919 says:

No photo of a Cambridge kid gets printed in a UK paper without consent from W and K. So it’s clear they set this up.

Also I notice they couldn’t sit together on the same side of the bench.

      • The Duchess says:

I noticed that too. Wouldn’t you want all your kids together on one side, while you dote on them from the other? Willy’s intolerance for Keen knows no bounds.

      • fluffy_bunny says:

My husband and I never sit next to each other. He usually sits with our son. We went out to dinner just the 2 of us on Saturday and we sat across from each other at a 4 top.

      • Lady D says:

I thought they were out because it was William’s weekend with the kids. He isn’t going to want to hang around the house with Kate, and going out to eat serves the dual purpose of ‘don’t forget about meeee, and fulfilling family time duties.

  7. Eurydice says:

Oh, I don’t think it would be hard to miss them – they’d be the ones with photographers all around. Do we have a couple of new epithets for TOB – Heir William and Modern Dad?

  8. Plums says:

lol I guess by the time you got to the article to post it, they had edited it to remove mention of the dog being months-dead Lupo.

    • Lady D says:

Didn’t they get a second black cocker spaniel pup recently?

      • Plums says:

I don’t care enough to know, all I know is that the squad on twitter was laughing all over this article when it first came out because the dog was specifically named as the one that died a few months ago.

      • Wiglet Watcher says:

        Lady d
Yes they did get another puppy.
Why it was news was because the puppy was bred by James from their deceased dogs sister. The dog could be 8 or more years old with several litters and a case of extreme over breeding. It was also thought their pup died younger than normal from poor breeding practices.
Animal abuse is what it all sounds like and we know James was broke after his 3rd business failure. He needed to form a puppy mill.

      • sarah11 says:

Unfortunately Wiglet Watcher, you have zero proof of your allegation that James Middleton was overbreeding his dogs or mistreating them in any way. Why make baseless claims against JM just because he’s related to Kate?

  9. LaraW” says:

There is something really off about this reporting:

    – William and Kate were a picture of family bliss
    – The pair looked relaxed
    – The Royal pair looked relaxed and happy
    – A witness said: “They were laughing and chatting
    – they were all laughing.

All this in an article four paragraphs long, probably less than 500 words? I mean, nothing says “THERE ARE NO PROBLEMS TO SEE HERE” more than absolutely insisting the family was “relaxed,” “laughing and chatting” in a “heartwarming scene” verified by an unnamed third party.

Also, we get it, guys. William had burgers and chips. And the food was too hot for the kids. Don’t need to repeat it three times.

    • Merricat says:

When there’s nothing to write about, and you have to stretch the “story” to fill white space.

      • LaraW” says:

But Merricat, there’s plenty to write about. Such as:
        – was the clothing that Kate wore appropriate for the weather? George is wearing a t-shirt. Charlotte is wearing short sleeves. William and Kate must be suffocating in their sweaters! Or are they just long sleeves? What’s the weather like in Norfolk? I saw that it was Y degrees Celsius outside with X humidity. Isn’t that too ABCDEFG for what they were wearing?

        – HOW MUCH WAS HER OUTFIT?!?!?! Starting with Diana’s ring. WHO DESIGNED IT?!?! WHO IS HER STYLIST?!?

        – Did they arrive via gas guzzling SUV’s? DID THEY TAKE A PRIVATE HELICOPTER?!? Did William have dinner without Kate later?

      • Merricat says:

        Lol

      • MF1 says:

@Lara@”, don’t forget the most important topic of all: HOW MANY BATHROOMS DO THEY HAVE IN THEIR HOUSE?

    • Eurydice says:

The extra stupid thing about this bit of PR is that the story could have been normal. They could have just reported the family having lunch and having a good time. That, along with the photos would have had readers filling in the blanks. But all the OTT verbiage makes it a phony fail.

    • Nic919 says:

All this talk of looking relaxed and happy and the photo doesn’t show that at all.

      • Ginger says:

Exactly. If they were laughing SO much wouldn’t they have taken a photo of that? Will looks pissed and Kate seem tense ( even though it’s a back shot) None of them seem happy.

      • Liz version 700 says:

Agreed, this photo is definitely not relaxed and happy. This photo at first glance looks like a man who can’t remember the names of all these kids. The next glance tells me that he looks annoyed and angry to be there. I feel for those kids. I doubt they see their parents being happy together ever. This is pitiful.

  10. SarahCS says:

Wow, this is just… wow. Their arsenal is empty and yet they continue to try and ‘win’ the PR war they created.

If only they’d put so much energy into their actual ‘work’. Because whether or not their chain was pulled to arrange this they are active and willing participants.

    • L84Tea says:

Notice the only thing they can try and cosplay from H&M’s weekend is being seen at a restaurant? They definitely can’t cosplay doing any actual work.

      • Kristin says:

They also can’t cosplay the genuine love and affection that Harry and Meghan have for each other!

      • Debbie says:

What are you talking about, they can’t cosplay the genuine love and affection H & M have? That picture of them socially distancing from each other on that haystack looks pretty intimate to me. Feel the heat.

    • L4frimaire says:

There’s something a bit hangdog about this effort. It’s not necessary, their children are still very young and shouldn’t be used like this. I don’t like seeing people photographed eating. It’s very intrusive. There are no good angles with food and drink in your mouth. The French kings used to have their meals on display with the entire court watching them eat, as a grand display. Once they were done, the nobles would descend on the table and eat the rest of the meal. It’s just depressing. They have a big film premier to attend with Charles coming up and it will garner so much positive press for them. This is really a silly exercise and gives the wrong impression that they need to feed the beast.

Lol they shouldn’t worry so much. I’m sure their loyal subjects haven’t forgotten that they’re the one true white nuclear family; the beacon of hope and relatability for millions of households.

That being said, this is painfully predictable omg

  12. sidelines says:

Harry and Meghan – in Central Park delivering an important message to the world.
William and Kate – in a park delivering their children to the RR/BM.

    • Noki says:

And it is very evident they were given a warning to show their faces and give the public something to chew on,especially if its to make the Sussexes look bad.

      • Becks1 says:

You can tell this was a set up bc of how all the outfits roughly coordinate – lots of navy and light blue. And William is wearing his official “casual public outing” outfit with the button down and sweater.

      • Christine says:

The part that baffles me is this doesn’t even remotely make the Sussexes look bad, exactly the opposite, in fact. The $25,000 donation to Melba’s Covid fund does immediately spring to mind, though.

    • Merricat says:

      Ouch. Truth hurts.

    • Marivic says:

So true. This Cambridges deserve no respect. So scripted and deliberately insulting to the intelligence of the readers.
British tabloids and the royal family are losing their minds over the success of the Sussex NY tour. Aside from this fact they most especially want to drown the William bullying claims hurled by Andrew Morton at William and Kate in his book. They try everything out of desperation that in doing so they become the laughing stock of the world. Nobody believes them. The world sees through their lies. This is also why Meghan and Harry were given worldwide attention. People know who’s telling the truth. And it’s not the royal family.

    • MF1 says:

It’s incredibly sad to me that W&K are so concerned about their fame and status that they’ll farm out their own kids to the press.

  13. Amy Bee says:

KP has an arrangement with the press that they don’t photograph the Cambridges while off duty and they are not allowed to publish photos of them in private settings. So this is obviously a set up between the Cambridges and the Sun. Desperate times call for desperate measures. And here we are with the Cambridges having a pub lunch with William dressed like he knew the Sun was going to take his picture.

    • Dlc says:

Everyone was dressed in shades of blue. Not obvious or anything.

    • Becks1 says:

The pictures really were the dead giveaway. If they had just run a story about how a fellow pub customer saw them and they were with their dog and Kate was wearing a blue sweater and George was wearing casual clothes etc – still obvious but a step down, so to speak. The pictures just give it away that this was a set up and 100% approved by KP.

    • Over it says:

Exactly a kp photo opp moment with the tabloids. How else would the tabloids know where they were if they were so normal and down to earth without security? I can smell the desperation for attention from across the pond.

    • LL says:

Considering that will went to the Sun awards I’m not surprised at this photo op. The Mail and The Sun has this family by the balls. First Charles, Camilla and Carole all writing/talking to the Mail. Then William attending the awards and this photo op.
Something is definitely going on behind the scenes. I really hope we one day get a whistle blower whose been there from the beginning to expose all this from within.

      • Beach Dreams says:

Yup, and I *think* the Sun’s the same outlet that started Rosegate with the rural rivalry story.

  14. Noki says:

The comments were ridiculous ,lauding them as humble and down to earth. LOL Do people forget that after their pub grub they are going back to their castles and palace being waited on hand and foot ?

  15. Lory says:

The daily fail at it again. They reported the dog was Lupo but it died last year.

    • Mrs.Krabapple says:

That’s probably the dog they got to replace Lupo before he died (at only 9 years of age, which is way too young). I don’t know if they ever announced the name of the replacement dog.

      • Nic919 says:

Some RPO must have the dog out of frame because I just can’t see a regular dog resisting sneak attempts to get food from its humans, especially burgers.

  16. Winnie says:

I thought paparazzi weren’t allowed to take photos of royals out in the wild? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

  17. BlueSky says:

Okay this quote:”There was no security around, just them chilling like any other family.”

I’m seriously asking the Brits on here, is “chilling” a word that is used like this because this is a very American word? I use it all the time.

I am laughing at how they are really trying to act like a normal, accessible family. I wonder once this was over did they go back to their own separate residences?

    • Aeren says:

That word jumped out at me as well!

    • HeatherC says:

I’m wondering if the follow up (because they will ride this story out for a few days ad nauseum) reveals the “witness” is supposedly American. Even better, a New Yorker who fled America for a vacation when they heard the Sussexes were coming to New York, and ran to England as fast as they could to see “real” royalty, pandemic be damned lol.

    • Talia says:

It’s used by some English people. The Sun obviously thinks that includes it’s readers (when they quote witnesses, the witnesses in question always seem to use Sun reader language).

  18. OriginalLala says:

Why do these articles always mention what the men ate but never what the woman ate?? it was the same thing with the article about H&M eating in NYC. So weird…..

also – baldimort and Katie Keen, you are so obvious its ridiculous.

    • AMM says:

I think the point of the article with the Sussex’s is Harry eating American food, that’s why they focused on what he ordered.

    • Jan says:

Meghan and Harry had waffles and chicken.

    • BeanieBean says:

In this particular instance, that’s all that we can see in the photo–William’s burger & fries. I think we have a photo & no witness, just a lot of stuff deduced/made up from the photo.

  19. D says:

First of all, there is no way there weren’t security people around. That just wouldn’t happen. Second, it’s very telling that they don’t mention what Kate ate. She would never eat pub food. Third, it’s just so obvious. “A scene that families all over their country would recognize” which is in juxtaposition to Harry and Meghan’s power weekend in New York. The kids look cute though.

  20. Belli says:

Remember, pictures of the children only appear in the press when KP have okayed it.

100% PR that we all saw coming. From all the sickly wording, bordering on propaganda. Trying again to make themselves seem like a low-key wholesome family in comparison to the “Hollywood” Sussexes. Even down to contrasting the food (British pub grub vs American soul food).

So if they’re “just like us”, what are we paying for?

  21. Merricat says:

Lol, these two are never “relaxed” or “chilling,” especially with each other.
I do feel a little sad for the Cambridge children, being used to prop up their parents’ poor reputations. Not a great way to grow up, in spite of their privilege.

  22. Nina says:

It’s so obvious. Harry was eating soul food in Harlem and enjoying himself. Now look at the perfect, white, English family eating local pub food as proper white English family would do. Oh and they’re so down do Earth, they don’t care about all the woke stuff like making sure Commonwealth countries have access to vaccines. It would shake the monarchy if they show some care about anyone who’s not white and English

  23. Royalwatcher says:

“…looked relaxed and happy as they wound down after a busy run of engagements”

🤣🤣 Ah yes, those grueling engagements like playing tennis for 20 minutes, riding a bike down a hill for the cameras, typing one sentence (2 minutes?), and chatting with famous footballers about sport for half an hour. Have I missed anything? Poor sausages must be sooooo tired!

Keen and Rose’s boyfriend…I’ve sort of run out of words to describe the level of loserdom with these two. Do you think they have the self-awareness to recognize how utterly unnecessary and pathetic they are? Probably not. So transparent and predictable too! It’s like clockwork. Meghan and Harry are in the news…here come the kids – and faces aren’t blurred so we know this has KP approval. At least we’re getting to see karma in action. More proof of that invisible contract. I can’t wait until all the dirt on TOB is made public.

    • L84Tea says:

I think they have ZERO self-awareness. If they did, they wouldn’t participate in these obvious stunts that are so obvious to the rest of us. I’d be willing to bet they spent all day Friday and Saturday pouring over the H&M news.

    • RoyalBlue says:

@royalwatcher that quote jumped out at me too, and I posted up above before I saw this. Lazy louts.

    • blackfemmebot says:

Calling William Rose’s boyfriend is sending me!!! I love it!!!

    • Jessie Quinton says:

      “Busy run of engagements?”

She got dressed up to play tennis, went to cocktail hour for the “Hold Still” book that she stole credit for, talked to Holocaust survivors on a boat for an hour.

He met with the FA to discuss busywork and show he was a manly man.

If you combine their hours it still is less than a day of work for the average working parent.

Then then went to a pub, he blew on the kid’s food and suddenly they’re the new model for nuclear families?

      F*** off with that noise….

    • SpankyB says:

“Rose’s boyfriend” I’m beyond dead. LOL

  24. Over it says:

Okay, so much here to mick.lol. First, we know that willyleaks had a burger and chips, did Kate have a pea? Also if George is sitting next to Kate why is will doing the consoling ? And can these two be any more desperate for some of the Sussex shine? It must really kill them that Harry loves his wife so much and isn’t afraid to show the world and Meghan let’s the world know that’s her man and he is loved. A full week of engagements? Are these people trying to be funny? These two barely worked and were Mia for months. And no Secruity my ass. Like they would go anywhere without security.

  25. Lili says:

LOL! All that is missing is the caption, the Burgers remind him of prince Philips Burgers LOL !

  26. Gina says:

I’ve watched Lucifer recently. As he once said: “Boring, boring, boring!”
And false – “no security”, “normal family”, “chatting and laughing”. Really?
The best and most interesting part was about their deceased dog, Lupo, joining them at the pub.

    • AmelieOriginal says:

I believe they got a new dog shortly before Lupo, their first dog, died. It was a gift from Kate’s brother James, one of his dogs had puppies (so he breeds them) and he gave one to Kate and William. We don’t know this dog’s name but it’s also an English cocker spaniel.

  27. S808 says:

I think this photoshoot is both bc W/K haven’t been seen together in months and because the sussexes were killing it in NY. I’m still convinced they’re separated.

    • L84Tea says:

      I am too.

    • Becks1 says:

So I think this was for a few reasons, kind of a “kill multiple birds with one stone” situation:

no “back to school” pics so the press is demanding SOMETHING with the kids.

We haven’t seen anything of William and Kate together since July, so someone probably said “we need to show that they are still a happy family and together.”

And then obviously Harry and Meghan and everything related to them in the past few days.

    • Merricat says:

      Agreed.

  28. Sure says:

Are outdoor dining tables football fields apart in the UK? Also how odd that the children are so well behaved in this one shot? It’s as if they were told to “behave” for the nice photographer. My other thought was that this photo was traded for something more incriminating.

    • ABW says:

I can’t think of a meal out with small children that doesn’t involve one of them hitting the other or some form of crying or running. But then again, my kids don’t have ‘the perfect ingredients’!

    • Lex says:

I mean if your food just arrived at your table, most kids will be sitting and stuffing their faces. Hot chips? Yes please!

  29. MangoAngelesque says:

Because someone at the Harlem school referenced Harry as being an all-caps DAD when the schoolchildren piled into him, there just HAD to be a story about Heir Other Brother and his really relaxed modern fathering that’s super-fantastic to see.

And because articles referred to Harry and Meghan as looking “loved-up” and “smitten,” the Keen article also needed to let us know that they are Totally Blissful and Living Together Because Look How Happy And Relaxed They Are Together With Their Dog I Think It’s A BLACK Spaniel Because They’re Not Racist.

  30. Zapp Brannigan says:

Just a totally normal down to earth family enjoying a quick Sunday lunch, then popping back home by a sponsored land rover with personal security provided by the Met, to their castle where they don’t have to work, pay none of their own bills while enjoying the best of everything in life. If the point of this story was to contrast how normal they are in comparison to Harry and Meghan “gallivanting” ( because you know the RR and BRF refer to it as gallivanting) about helping the less fortunate then well done KP, you have convinced the people who already believe you do everything just white, sorry just right.

  31. LovesitinNM says:

These are disgusting people. H&M went for African American cuisine in Harlem. And these two or whoever orchestrates their lives thought this up. The perfect time to show the British people… H&M are where they belong eating collard greens and chicken and waffles and W&C are where they belong eating fish and chips. Congratulations the whole world understands your message. Nasty people.

    • GRUEY says:

Agreed. And this ties in with the ultra nationalist messaging the going around England to try to get people to ignore how horribly Brexit is going. Personally I think this appearance is trying to kill about 8 birds with one stone before William goes back to his lawyer or rose gardening or whatever the current flavor is.

    • SnoodleDumpling says:

The funny part for me is that Will is eating that grand American invention, the hamburger. Though, England also thinks of tea as inherently English, so I’m not surprised they’d try to snaffle the burger as well.

  32. Red Weather Tiger says:

If they were laughing and so full of mirth, why does the photo show Baldimort scowling? Was this his face when he was charmingly reassuring his wailing children that hot food would eventually cool?

    Come ON.

  33. mess says:

First thought : ah but of course

Second : huh i wonder if the photos were snapped from same distance as the flybe ones

Third : heh they just have to remind people who’s the HEIR. He’s the HEIR, ok?? And the HEIR is a modern dad!

Fourth: someone made sure to point out Georgie’s civilian clothes after the comments re: EURO final

Fifth : damn this is pitiful AF

  34. HeatherC says:

I don’t know what you’re carrying on about. I always take a tax payer paid helicopter to all my outings. Doesn’t everyone bring a professional photographer when having a casual and completely spontaneous lunch with your absolutely NOT estranged spouse and white children?

The Cambridges. They are so very much like us.

I’ll be hosting a telethon later to raise money to pay for therapy for the Cambridge tots.

  35. TIFFANY says:

I feel for those 3 kids already. This would not be a problem if they just balanced out the exposure of those kids. It’s a tit for tat and everyone knows it.

I remember when Victoria’s daughter, Estelle, was about 3 and she went out on a few small engagements with her parents. Estelle was adorable and engaging with the audiences who were there. Then school pics came around and she and her parents came out to do a photo call, outside the home, not at the school. So Victoria and Daniel were able to satisfy the Swedish rota, Estelle has practice with interaction and allowed her privacy to be a kid.

See Keens, it can be done and done right.

    • Nyro says:

We’ve literally seen those kids like every month since the pandemic started. They, like their parents, are old hat. Sorry, not sorry. They’re so overexposed that you really don’t even see their own fans ooohing and aaahhing over the Cambridge kids anymore.

  36. Here4Tea says:

    Definitely reached peak mediocrity.

  37. A says:

You know for a second there I was maybe thinking that KPs team had got it together. Kate needs to be seen not heard, William needs to surround himself with people with actual personality (unlike him) , and pulling the look over here at our kids needs to to be limited to special occasions (i.e Andrews court case). But no! They couldn’t just stick with the program. First Carole Middleton pops up in the daily Mail in a desperate attempt to save her business, by connecting it directly to Keen Kate (guess she’s still pissed about her missed opportunity at James’s wedding). Then this, I mean they couldn’t pull this in London and at least save some gas?

    • Harper says:

Speaking of the James Middleton wedding, I’m still waiting for that photo of the Cambridges in attendance. CarolE, do you hear? We haven’t forgotten.

      • HeatherC says:

Especially of Kate in her very very very very definitely not white light green dress. After all, accolades were poured on her for attending her own brother’s wedding.

  38. Lizzie says:

Maybe security hung back in the helicopter.

  39. Lizzie says:

This was the best pic? How bad were the rest, were they arguing or something?

    • Lizzie says:

      Edit,
The scowls may be due to having to ditch the Windsor move and separation after H&M appear so in love in NY.

    • Beach Dreams says:

Right? If they were so jovial as the article claimed, wouldn’t they want a picture of at least some of the family laughing and/or smiling? This shot just looks tense and awkward.

  40. Amy T says:

KATE ate? That’s the real story here….

  41. Here4Tea says:

“I could only find a clown plate for Kate.” Carole Middleton describes to the Mail how her children inspired her to start her business .
    I kid you not.

  42. SUNNYVILE says:

Yikes🙈so predictable & cringy. But I honestly only saw this here on celebitchy which shows how insignificant they have become!! Honestly, the fail & other sites are still obsessed with the Sussex tour so this OBVIOUSLY STAGED little stunt was so pointless

    • JT says:

That’s the saddest thing right there. Nobody still cared about them. Not even their own racist press. They’re just selling out their kids for no damn reason.

  43. Lexistential says:

The Sussexes kill it in NY, and go to Melba’s of all places (while making a donation too)- and the most these two losers can do is go for a pub lunch? The Sussexes generate universal, multi-racial appeal, while the Cambridges lean into their Little England propaganda as demanded by the tabloids.

Oof. No competition. Harry and Meghan’s professional philanthropy is only just beginning, while these two do nothing but photoshoots.

  44. Dee says:

Isn’t William too hot? He’s wearing a sweater and George is wearing a t-shirt. With such good weather, why is Bill wearing such heavy fabrics? Is he hiding a microphone? Where is their security? Did Kate burn dinner? I heard she has three kitchens and is such a good cook. Really concerned for all of them. (sarcasm)

  45. Rapunzel says:

Let’s translate some of this treacle:

“The pair spent quality time with their children in a heartwarming scene families around the country would recognise.”— don’t worry white folks, the FFK don’t eat soul food. No chicken and waffles or collard greens (who even knows what collard greens are, amiright?)

“George, usually dressed in a tie and blazer when on public engagements, looked casual in a t-shirt, shorts and trainers.” — George will be in suits at events from now on, so stop complaining cause he wears normal clothes when his dad doesn’t need him looking like a mini-me.

“They were eating outside, I suppose because it was easier for the children.”– to be papped. It was easier for the children to be popped outside.

“There was no security around, just them chilling like any other family.”– we think you’re so stupid you’ll believe the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th in line for the throne were amongst the masses without protection.

    • JustBitchy says:

Treacle. That’s gold. And Lyle’s golden syrup is also great. Super uptight salty white folk stuff

  46. Nyro says:

Either way, it’s an L for them. It’s humiliating to have to drag out the kids yet again for a pap stunt, as if that’s going to knock Harry and Meghan out of the news. And if they were indeed just out minding their business and having lunch, then it’s clear all bets are off and the tabloids are no longer going to shield their family.

  47. Rapunzel says:

Tin foil hat theory on this last part:

“There was one particularly touching moment where one of the children got upset because their food was too hot. William was so fast to reassure them and sort them out.”– one of the kids got upset the food was too hot and Will snapped at him/her, reassuring/them out with a “stop whining! It’ll cool down!”

“It was fantastic to see.”– the Sun reporter quietly tipping William off that his behavior was witnessed and he owes the Sun a favor for not telling readers Will gets impatient and snappy with the kids.

Just my thought: no way “incandescent with rage” man puts up with a child crying over hot food. Plus, the most likely to whine is little Louis, who was sitting next to Kate.

  48. Southern Fried says:

Dull dull dull dull. Dullards. There’s not one fracking thing interesting about those two.

  49. Nutella Toast says:

During the Early Years, it’s important to blow on hot food for your child. It’s critical to their development.

  50. MJM says:

Kaiser these photos are pure genius 😂

  51. Margaret says:

News flash, the DM commentators were going negative on that PR stunt, and guess what it is not on the royal family news now, now. Talk about not standing the heat. Story backfiring big time, the people not having it.

  52. Margaret says:

News flash, the DM commentators were going negative on that PR stunt, and guess what it is not on the royal family news now, now. Talk about not standing the heat. Story backfiring big time, the people not having it.

    • Lizzie says:

Did the dm burry this? I just checked and don’t see it. Still mostly about H&M.

    • Debbie says:

Gee, where did that stiff upper lip go? Is it possible that William and Kate are overly sensitive and just want positive press only? Don’t all royal family members have to put up with bad press from time to time? Why can’t they stand the heat? and on and on…

  53. aquarius64 says:

The Cambridges go on a burger run, big whoop. Definitely a response to the Sussex Big Apple tour. The loved up Cambridge story is to tamp down rocky marriage rumors. The Sun is the new handler for KP and Dan Rotten has come collecting. That film looks like a hostage video

  54. Dee says:

Did the dog get anything to eat? A bit of burger? A fry, perhaps? They really buried the lede.

  55. Likeyoucare says:

I hope the kids will get good psychiatrists soon.
Those poor children had been used as props.

Harry and meghan only begun their work for 3 days and these two clowns panic and shove their children as shield.

Someone should tell them, regular people work at least 5 days a week for the whole year. And H&M just got started.

The brits will get bored if they kept selling their children everytime H&M go out working.

    • Lady D says:

“And H&M just got started.” That’s the best part of your comment, @Likeyoucare. William and Kate are looking at 25 years minimum of playing catch-up with the Sussex’s, and they did it to themselves. You just know it was William who said no to the half in – half out deal.

  56. Athena says:

They missed the point. Harry and Meghan’s visit wasn’t about chicken and waffles it was about supporting a small business owner who is supporting her community during a pandemic. This stunt on the part of the Keens would only be meaningfully if the pub where they ate provided food to the local hospital during the height of the pandemic.

The reference to no security is to compare with the visible security detail we saw around the Sussexes. The BRF told the world were the Sussexes where then pulled their security, you would think they would stay away from bringing up H&M’s security.

What will they come up with when Meghan is made a UN special envoy or a UN global or goodwill ambassador in support of the vaccine.

Harry and Meghan’s world is so much bigger, and when W&K pull these little stunts it just shows how small their world is. I can’t believe one of them have not looked at the other one and say, we’ve had a good run at this not working now we need to get off our tuch and get to work

  57. Gk says:

The way W is dressed makes it look fake. The kids look casual in t shirts , normally dressed for a weekend casual lunch , is Will in a button down shirt and sweater? I can’t see what Late is wearing. At least a sports shirt if you want to look casual. Plus they haven’t been seen all summer and NOW they are captured in a casual moment?
It’s obvious this was set up but I think it demeans them and their children to performers which they should try not to be.

  58. Jaded says:

I wonder how much their server got tipped? Willyleaks is rumoured to be so cheap he squeaks. Or was the food pre-ordered and set out prior to their arrival so they didn’t have to mix with the working class….

  59. L4Frimaire says:

Ok. I assume they have permission to publish these photos as opposed to the ones that TMZ had of the Sussexes that time they were having a pub meal in Windsor, think it was a Sunday roast, a few years ago. It’s a bit strange, like a Mad Men style campaign for the ideal nuclear family.

  60. Sid says:

On a superficial side note, boy Diana really blessed that family by bringing in the height gene (among other things). I can’t get over how tall George looks sitting there next to his mom.

  61. Jay says:

Ugh, the double standard of what gets you praise as a “modern dad” is infuriating. Would any mom (even Kate) be praised for reassuring their picky toddler (I’m assuming it was Louis – he’s about the right age for this)? As opposed to what, throwing them in a workhouse? What would have been the “non modern” response, forcing the child to eat the food off the floor for complaining? Reassuring your child calmly seems like the absolute minimum, and it certainly wouldn’t be noteworthy for most people, especially mothers. It would be expected! This is something that annoys me outside of coverage of the Cambridges as well.

It tells us a lot that either a) it’s unusual for William to interact with his children in this manner, thus worthy of note or b) the writer really had to reach for a way to compliment William, and so yes, judging by Dickensian standards, he is a “modern” parent.

  62. Jolie says:

Or someone one could have taken a photo on their phone and sent it to the Sun

Perhaps W looks cross because of that

    • Beach Dreams says:

LOL sure. They could’ve easily prevented the Sun from publishing the photo or had the tabloid yank the picture quickly since it has their kids in it. They certainly made quick work of shutting down those photos of Kate going to Pippa’s place to celebrate Carole’s birthday in London a couple of years back. This was a typical Cambridge PR stunt.

    • Becks1 says:

The Sun would not have published it, had that been the case. They do not print unauthorized pictures of the kids in England. That’s why a lot of times when kate is papped with the kids the pictures are in a French or German magazine.

And their RPOs have been known to ask people to delete pictures from their phones.

    • Byzant says:

Except there’s an agreement with the press in the UK nothing is published photo wise of the kids without Kensington palaces approval. So this wasn’t just a random oh goodness they are just like us. It’s a stupid and badly done publicity stunt

  63. bettyrose says:

Even as a vegan, this lunch sounds so appealing. Not the artificial happy family, but can someone get me some pub chips and a freshly pulled ale? Yes, I’d love some vinegar with that. Thanks.

  64. Ann says:

Gawd. Hey, did you know they ate burgers? Cuz they ate burgers. And it was so casual and they were so relaxed and they laughed. Lots of laughing. So normal. William is father of the century! He dealt with his kid being picky about food. So touching. Just wow.

    They are so stale.

  65. HeatherC says:

When you have to write “clearly enjoying each other’s company” you know they clearly are not.

  66. Anne says:

Side note: Those photos of Keen Kate doing that awkward gesturing with both hands — there are a MILLION photos of her doing this. Who gestures like that when they’re talking? Feels like her public speaking coach told her, “use hand gestures occasionally to make it look like you’re REALLY engaged in conversation” and then she took that bit of advice and ran a marathon with it.

  67. Megs283 says:

Yeah… if parents are relaxed while eating with three young kids, they are clearly acting 🤣. (source: me, mom of a 3 yo and 5 yo.)

  68. Gina says:

The full headline of The Sun under this photo: “Fit for a King”. It seems going out with children to eat chips and burger at local pub is enough for Billy to be fit for his future role…
The brainwashing is so obvious. BP has zero respect for its own readers. It’s insulting.

    • Debbie says:

Wait a minute, Fit for a king? Yet the whole text was filled with “Look how normal we are?” Or as they say in US-Weekly, “Stars, they’re just like us” all us kings.

  69. SenseOfTheAbsurd says:

The Daily Mail’s detail of including the presence of a dog who died last year was brilliant. Tell me this is utterly made up propaganda bullshit, without saying this is utterly made up propaganda bullshit.

  70. Monica says:

The Sussexes are conducting a post-doc seminar in public service while the Cambridges are fooling around in elementary school.

  71. Lowrider says:

Bill is in bed with Murdoch.

He attended an event sponsored by The Sun tabloid, now they have exclusive photos of his family! What’s next?

  72. House of No says:

One big happy family…not. You can feel the tension.

  73. jferber says:

What is the significance of the two sitting on a bale of hay? So boring. If it were the Sussexes, they would have been sitting a lot closer, because they actually like and love each other. There is a lot of space between Kate and Will in that pic, signifying the true state of their relationship.

  74. MaryContrary says:

I would love to be a fly on the wall when they had the discussion to do this (because it wasn’t accidental.). Like does Jason go to them and suggest this brilliant PR? (Snort) Or do Will and Kate decide they’re really going to show up Harry and Meghan with their Happy Normal White Family routine, and then call up the Sun? Either way, they would have had to discuss-and I cannot even imagine what a weird, petty and frankly, pathetic, existence this is.

  75. jferber says:

William looks baleful, not blissful, in that pic with his family, like he really hates them all. I’d truly like to know what gives him joy in life. His mistresses? One-upping Harry? Being a miserable sod born with a silver spoon in his mouth? Twat. And balding with a buck tooth to boot.

  76. Rose says:

How very sad for the kids that the only time and reason they get to sit at a picnic table and eat together as a family is for a photo stunt trying to get favorable publicity.

  77. Tessa says:

So very obvious, and the Cambridges are so predictable trotting out those children again.

  78. jferber says:

Gina, I think the messaging is that a real British (white man) goes to an English pub to eat, not to a Harlem restaurant with his bi-racial wife. So I think it’s actually a nod and dog-whistle to the rabid white supremacists who Rupert Murdoch courts in America with Pox News and in the U.K. with the Sun.

  79. Tessa says:

The photo op reminds me of those Automobile commercials with a “Family Road Trip” complete with pet dog.

  80. Tessa says:

Next time they will get a trained dog, with photo ops of William throwing a ball and telling dog to “fetch.”

  81. jferber says:

Kate’s back is turned from the camera so no one can see her plate is empty. Prince George is eyeing her plate, possibly thinking, “Why is there no food on Mum’s plate?” Charlotte may be wondering how long she’s allowed to eat before she has to stop, too, like Mum. William is royally pissed off because he’s William. Fun family day.

  82. Fanciful says:

The “no security” lie was put there because the fail et al have made such a big deal about the Sussexes security since thursday. Every day there are multiple articles about security and they are STILL banging on about it. So the nice normal lamebridges had to be no security. they are so awful.

  83. Eulalia says:

It’s sad that they have to try *this* hard to take attention away from the Sussexes, but apart from some pats on the head in the comment section of The Sun’s article, it will be a flop. Imagine if they put all this energy into, I don’t know…doing their jobs? Taking some initiative? Stop trying so hard to appear to be beloved by your people and work harder so you will actually be beloved by your people.

  84. February-Pisces says:

Kate always has the same style when being papped looking ‘normal’. It’s always a blurry camera phone pic, security and staff pushed out of the way so they’re not in the shot and then the money shot of them doing something ‘normal’. Then followed by headlines of how ‘down to earth’ she or they are. It’s the same every time. I wouldn’t begrudge them being seen with their security, they are there for a reason, so you know it’s fake when they are out of the way.

But yeah, they are so damn fake.

  85. Carolind says:

William had burger and chips? Would love to know the exact details of all five meals!

  86. Agreatreckoning says:

As someone else said, this story could have been okay. When they go OTT, all bets are off. This was a photo op pandering to..?????. No way they were without security. No way “witness” didn’t mention the name of the “classic English beer garden lunch” establishment. They’ve mentioned the names before. A quick search of outdoor Norfolk dining came up with a few things. One of the places, has the same gray picnic tables from the picture. Might be wrong, but the Smokehouse Bar & Grill in Ormesby at St. Margaret, qualifies. Interesting thing about that place is that it’s considered an American Southern style diner. Hmmmmm. Not a “classic Englist beer garden lunch”. Someone might be cheating while copying. Ssshhhhh. Scroll down until you get to the Smoke Yard. It’s even mentioned that you can tuck into the menu.https://www.edp24.co.uk/things-to-do/food-reviews/restaurants-pubs-for-outdoor-dining-norfolk-waveney-8115592
Bless their hearts for having a photo op family lunch.
