Administrators for Coventry City FC have just announced they plan to sell the club to Otium Entertainment Group – a company which has connections to SISU the current owners.

If the sale goes ahead the new owners intend to take CCFC out of the city for up to three years and build a new stadium outside of the jurisdiction of Coventry City Council. Home games will no longer be in Coventry.

In announcing the sale the administrator even admitted the move “will not necessarily be welcomed by a large number of Coventry City fans.”

The football league's motto is 'real football for real fans' but that looks very hollow at the moment. This petition is not just to stop the sale of Coventry City FC but to stop this from happening in the future.

The Football League as the power to stop this going ahead. They need to step in.

SISU placed the company into admin and appointed their own administrator for their gain while knowing they would win the final bidding process all along! There were far better bids put forward to the administrator Mr Appleton but he chose the SISU backed company. How can a company that was only established in 2011 with no assets and formed by two former Coventry City FC directors be able to bid for a club which is roughly £60 million in debt and that be considered as 'the best' offer for the club, it just doesn’t seem right.

The other final bidders all intended to purchase 50% of the Ricoh Arena and play there. A good stadium, as the 2012 Olympics proved, I'm sure you'll agree and a credit to the Football League. Now though, this 'new club' will probably get smaller gates than our neighbours Nuneaton Town and will never be able to compete in the structure in the way that it could had it been given the opportunity. The absolutely disgraceful episode of Wimbledon and MK Dons is rearing its ugly head again. 13,000+ supporters signed a petition to keep Coventry as a community club based in the city. I cannot believe that SISU can pass any fit and proper criteria!
