Maelstrom Command: Mist
Mist W2:P51, Seagaze Market subdivision
ICly, Maelstrom Command: Mist is a secondary command center constructed by the Maelstrom to act as an overflow for the goings-ons at Maelstrom Command proper in Limsa Lominsa. Soldiers from all squadrons can visit Maelstrom Command: Mist and receive health care, provisions, training, disciplinary action, and assignments. Soldier housing is also available to individual soldiers depending on their (IC) rank.
The building also acts as the primary center of command for Maelstrom, 1st Squadron, 9th Levy – a brand new airborne levy outfitted with new, experimental War Airship technology, lead by Storm Commander Sylbfohc Ostulmsyn.
However, Commander Sylbfohc’s specialized levy consists of only a small number of the soldiers who live, train, and visit Maelstrom Command: Mist. Most soldiers who visit belong to other squadrons and are not under Commander Sylbfohc’s direct command.
Even so, whilst under his roof, it would be wise to do as the good Commander says. ;] He is charged with keeping all visitors in line and is authorized to take disciplinary action against violators regardless of who their direct commanding officers are.
Security is tight! ICly, security is extremely tight throughout the building. We ask that you respect our RP and…
…do not RP a break in, theft, sneaking by the sign in desk guards etc. without OOCly planning it out with Sylb ahead of time.

The Front Lawn
Framed by a large, open, artfully constructed iron-wrought gate, the front lawn is a picture of military beauty. Neat, symmetrical shrubbery cut in the shape of cannonballs line the walkway, and a pair of decommissioned cannons stand on either side of the front door. At night, the groundskeep lights a lamp within each cannon, setting a soft glow over the lawn.
RP NOOKS:
- The names of fallen soldiers are carved into the fencing
(feel free to add the names to the wall here)
SOUNDS:
- Ocean tides on the nearby shore
- Gulls
- Not-so-distant sounds of soldiers hacking away at training dummies just beyond the guarded area of the yard
SMELLS:
- Sea air
- Freshly cut grass
- Faintly fishy smelling lamp oil used to illuminate the cannons at night
The Soldier’s Yard
To the right of the front lawn, a grizzled looking Yellowjacket stands guard. His eyes watch you as you approach the entrance to the restricted soldiers yard. Proof of active military standing with the Maelstrom, including rank, is required upon entry.
Maelstrom soldiers of all rank fill every corner of the yard. Whether it be practicing technique on riviera dummies, heckling from the sidelines, tending to chocobos, fetching the mail, hanging laundry to dry, or swapping stories over a pot of cooking stew – the soldiers can carry on with their business away from the eye of overly curious citizens.
RP NOOKS:
- Striking dummies & bench to sit and watch/heckle/wait your turn
- Cook fire
- Laundry & mail
- Chocobo stables
SOUNDS:
- Hacking & slashing of weaponry against the striking dummies
- Cheering & heckling from other soldiers watching those at the training dummies
- Chocobo sounds
- Crackling fire
SMELLS:
- Campfire
- Over cooked stew
- Chocobo (feathers, stables, dung!)
- Sweat (faintly)
- Soil
The Vestibule
Upon entry to the building, visitors will immediately find themselves in a secure room with two guards situated behind desks. On either side of the decorative center display, two large, black doors stand tall – access granted by the guards after soldiers and visitors alike sign in and surrender their weapons. Visitors will ICly need a Maelstrom escort to proceed beyond this point. (In other words, a LS member!)
Much like the front yard, the design of this room is meant to impress visitors with its sharp, aesthetically pleasing design.
RP NOOKS:
- Sign in desk(s)
- Benches to sit and wait for an (IC) escort
- Fountain with coins littering its bottom – soldiers sometimes toss a coin in for good luck before embarking on a mission
SIGHTS:
- Portrait of Admiral Merlwyb Bloefihswyn
SMELLS:
- Cleaning products
Soldier’s Den & Mess Hall
To the right and down the stairs leads into the soldier’s den: an area where the soldiers can eat, drink, smoke, and play cards.
The quartermasters offers recreational provisions to soldiers at the counter. Cards and cheap ale are free (ale is self serve in the mess hall). Snacks, cigars, and other basic vittles can be purchased at low cost. Things like uniforms and weaponry, however, can be picked up in the more secure supplier’s office (see public RP rooms below). Simple, practical meals are served thrice daily in the mess hall, though they’re not exactly tasty…
RP NOOKS:
- Notice board
- Card counter (though cards can be taken anywhere in the den)
- Quartermaster counter
- Mess hall
SIGHTS:
- Low lighting - firelight and candle light
- Hanging Maelstrom and Doman banners
- Stuffed fish, and other hunt heads, hanging on the walls
SMELLS:
- Cigar smoke
- Fish
- Stale ale
RP Rooms
From the Vestibule, the black door to the left leads to an additional guarded sign-in point before yet another door. This door leads to an assortment of rooms, each varying in security and purpose. Visitors must undergo one more weapons check with this guard before proceeding into any of the rooms.
We have two types of public RP rooms:
★ = Open RP rooms
that any Maelstrom soldier can ICly access at any time
☆ = Semi-open RP rooms with heightened security
that any Maelstrom soldier can ICly access as long as they have the heightened IC clearance or have been invited by someone with that clearance.
Check out our #public rp rooms tag to learn more about our public RP rooms
*more rooms are added periodically
