  1. 24th October 2022.24th October until 23rd April 2023. We wrote to residents in Heaton last year about some changes we intend to trial in your area to reduce the amount of traffic cutting through your streets. Many thanks to everyone who gave us their feedback which has been used to finalise the scheme which will be implemented on 24th October 2022.Under an Experimental Traffic Regulation Order (ETRO), changes in your area include closing streets to through traffic at Heaton Park View from the Warwick Street end, Bolingbroke Street where it joins Heaton Park Road, Cardigan Terrace at the junction with Heaton Road. As well as installing double yellow lines on Stannington Avenue and changing prioity on Stratford Road, to give way to vehicles on Mowbray Street. These changes will be trialled, with a six-month public consultation. For the changes that we are trialling above, temporary measures will be installed. This allows us to make any changes quickly and to gather people’s view before making a long-term decision on whether the schemes should be made permanent. Other measures that we intend to install on a permanent basis (not trialled) include a new pedestrian crossing linking Mowbray Street and Wandsworth Road across Heaton Park Road. We will also install double yellow lines on some back lanes to improve access for emergency vehicles and refuse trucks. These schemes will have their own separate consultations. As part of the measures for Heaton, we have already introduced a School Street at Hotspur Primary School which will continue. Regarding Ouseburn Road, consideration is currently being made as to how best to proceed after we recieved a variety of feedback on the initial proposals. Residents will be updated in due course. We believe that making these changes will help to create safer, cleaner and greener neighbourhoods. This can have a big impact on tackling air pollution, improving residents’ health and wellbeing, and increasing road safety on residential streets. Read on to find out more about the changes for your area and how to take part in the public consultation.
