Cookie Monster
Been a member here for a long time and never made a project log. So Here is my first log. Be patient as this is a sloooowwww project. Let me get you all caught up on my car.
1998 DOHC Expresso Coupe. 197,xxx Miles.
Here are some pictures of when I first got the car home.
Pictures from when I got it back from the dealer I bought it from. They fixed the dents and some paint issues as part of the deal I got when I bought it.
Took my SRT4 seats out of my SRT before I took it back to the ex.
Added my 3rd brake light LED.
Cleaned the engine bay a little.
OLD handles:
New Handles:
Stripping new valve cover for paint
A little bit of paint
Painted oil dip stick
Got the new shifter
Stock height
Reduced throw and height. (Sport Coupe Erik STS)
SRT wheel installed
Installed Cold Air intake and Valve Cover
Prepping SRT Exhaust
Rear Disc
Electric Trunk Pop. BYE BYE CABLE!!!
LED Cluster
Oil Pressure Gauge
Exterior
Working sunroof!
So after running the car down a guard rail this is the most current pictures I have of it. Hope this winter I can make some more progress on it.
Starting body work...
Fixing the pinch weld
Damage repair
Where did the key hole go???
Starting paint
No antenna hole in fender
No window squirters
Just waiting on the door handles to be finished up. Then gotta get her home and start reinstalling parts.
This is waiting for Cookie Monster....
Need to pull the head off and replace the head gasket. Going to replace all the oil seals including valve stem seals while I have the head off. Might port the head a little. Once that is done I need to finish up buying my 2.4 Swap mounts. Then get this in Cookie Monster by next summer. That way I can drive this and get the megasquirt started for the 2.4 Turbo motor.

Ya i removed all of the squirter hardware too. Battery relocate will go there. as well as the stock ECU once I extend the stock harness. Megasquirt somewhere inside the cab. Just dont know where yet.

I can only assume you are asking about the paint that is all over the windshield? If so the window is cracked and needs to be replaced. So I did not bother to mask it off as it will be replaced.
Re: Cookie Monster
Is it a pain extending the stock pcm wires? I wanna do that with mine but do you have to basically cut the connector off the harness and solder in new wires long enough to reach down by the washer fluid resevior?

That is what I'm going to do. I've got a junk wire harness that the wires to the ecu connectors are good. So I will cut the identical color off the donor harness. I will then cut one wire at a time and solder in the identical color adding the length i need. Gonna heat shrink individual wires and wraps the entire harness when done.

Re: Cookie Monster
No major updates with the car... Just moved so have not done much. Just pulled the pan off my 2.4 $150 motor. Balance shaft chain was broken. No metal pieces in the oil. Took a look at the rod caps and there is no play. So hoping bearigs are good... Will take them apart soon. Got to get the block to the machine shop.
Re: Cookie Monster
How did you get the srt exhaust up that far into the bumper? I love the look! I wanted to put duals on my 98 but don't like the look of hanging below the bumper.
