Shakespeare in the Park
To go, or not to go? It’s not really much of a question when two theatre groups launch their summer annual Shakepeare in the Park series. Seattle Shakespeare Company's Wooden O starts things off on Thursday, opening with the exciting brutality of Julius Caesar at the Issaquah Community Center and the comedic romance of The Two Gentleman of Verona at Luther Burbank Park on Mercer Island. Greenstage follows suit on Friday, opening the curtain this year with a mix of comedy and tragedy, performing Love’s Labour’s Lost at Fall City Park, Othello at Volunteer Park, and All’s Well That Ends Well at High Point Commons. Bastille Day Bash
Historically, Bastille Day marked the beginning of the French Revolution with the storming of the Bastille fortress-prison in Paris. Today, the Madison Valley neighborhood honors that revolutionary moment with a celebration of French food and culture—tinged with a little local flair. Live music, burlesque dancers, mimes, and a whole feast of French fare to be bought in small, cheap bites. All we have to say to that is "un oui franc et massif" - a resounding yes! Light in the Attic Summer Spectacular
Light in the Attic Records is known for re-releasing works of noted artists like Betty Davis, hidden gems like Rodriguez, and producing contemporary hard-hitters like Austin psych-rock group The Black Angels. The label opens up its Ballard shop this Saturday for its first ever summer music spectacular, headlined by brothers Donnie and Joe Emerson, only the duo's third live show in over thirty years.
