TODAY’S TOP HEADLINE: Colorado is getting some help from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Gov. John Hickenlooper and Lt. Gov. Joe Garcia plan to announce an education funding grant from the foundation Monday at the state Capitol.

TALK ABOUT A PAYOFF: Elias Gutierrez arrived at the Hyatt Regency Convention Center feeling pretty special. His story was going to be featured in a video shown at the Denver Scholarship Foundation’s annual fundraising dinner; when it ended, he would step to the microphone to thank the 1,250 guests for supporting the DSF and the financial aid it gives to promising young people such as himself.
