Crews find 9th victim in Okla. turnpike wreck
By SEAN MURPHY 2 hours ago
MIAMI, Okla. (AP) The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a ninth fatality in a
northeast Oklahoma turnpike wreck has been confirmed after crews found
another body in a car that had been caught under a tractor-trailer.
The accident happened about 1 p.m. Friday when a tractor-trailer slammed
into a line of cars stopped by an earlier accident on the Will Rogers
Turnpike northeast of Miami.
THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE. Check back soon for further information.
AP's earlier story is below.
MIAMI, Okla. (AP) At least eight people died Friday when a tractor-
trailer slammed into a line of cars stopped on a northeast Oklahoma
turnpike by an earlier accident, leaving twisted metal and debris strewn
about the highway and stranding miles of traffic in scorching heat for
hours.
Investigators don't believe the driver of the tractor-trailer tried to stop
before the crash, Brown said. The speed limit in the area is 75 mph.
Brown said the truck driver was taken to an area hospital, as was a 12-
year-old girl who was pinned for a time in a wrecked vehicle before
emergency workers could free her. He did not know their medical conditions.
(snip)
You might want to look into the story a bit more, looks to me like it
was just a smash up derby out there on the Turnpike yesterday.
I don't see why one should jump to conclusions when it seems like
EVERYONE had their heads up their butts.
A quote from an article on the accident :
" The turnpike's eastbound lanes were closed for hours after the
accident, which occurred near the border with Missouri and Kansas.
THREE more accidents happened in the eastbound lanes as cars slowed
following the tractor-trailer wreck, and there was later a FOUR-car
crash on the WESTbound side of the turnpike. "

How does that follow? That doesn't solve the basic problem of idiocy.
As you are living proof.
Also, speed limits, in the absence of having a cop posted at every mile
marker, have little to no effect on the speeds people actually drive.
Decades of ludicrously underposted speed limits have eroded all respect
for speed limits in general among the general driving public.

You really are a moron, aren't you. 55MPH speed limit and those people
woudl be just as dead - it would just have taken a little longer for
them to die.

Of course they did. All drivers are idiots and psychopaths. That's why we
need lower speed limits.

The answer is not more cops but stiffer penalties. If speeders knew they
would lose their license if caught, you'd have compliance.

HAHAHAHA
The vehicles were going too fast to be safe for the conditions, which
is the basic speed law.
The 75 limit is the maxium one can legally drive, even if the
conditions (from many factors) would alloow 100 MPH, which could be
safe under certain conditions.
When will you ever learn?
You may recall my describing, with law enforcement people prsent and
nodding in agreeent, how a non-speeder could pass a speeder.
Take a risk-assesment course - cerainly there is an institution near
you that would allow you to monitor the class.
If fact, let me know where you live and I will try to make arranements
for you.
Anyone who has to drive for work will probably lose their job with 2-3
speeding tickets. Doesn't stop 99 plus percent of drivers from speeding.

Really. You think that if a _tractor trailor_ hit a stationary line
of cars at 55 mph...nobody would die. Really.
History has not shown that to be the case.

WTF are you talking about? I'm not talking about 3 tickers. I mean ONE
and you're walking for the next year.
what history? When have we ever had automatic license suspension for
speeding.?
LMAO. The only thing your dumb ass has destroyed has been your chance
at NOT being a lifetime loser.
Interestingly enough, it appears the retard, er, troll in question is
achieving results that are contrary to it's stated goals. Hard to
imagine it failing in this endeavor, too. ;-)
My preference is to have a population intelligent enough to operate
motor vehicles, but as I witness on the road every day, that's a
reality this country's population will never be intelligent enough to
realize.
Odd, I thought most states would revoke your license if you incurred
so many violations within a given point of time.
Of course, that only applies to licensed vehicles. Your ignorance on
the issue (as well as many other issues) is understood, given that you
probably don't need to obtain a license to operate your liquorcycle.
Nah; we need to abolish speed limits, and allow Darwin to thin out the
gene pool. After all the retarded crap like Perez Hilton is killed in
the country, we'll finally be in a position to return to prosperity.
It's obvious that your ability to read is on the same level of a
preschooler's; no wonder you're stupid enough to believe morons like
David Icke.
So, how's that 9/11 conspiracy thing goin' for ya, Einstein?

stretch could be 25, i thought."

Right, nobody has ever driven like a moron/asshat/whatever while sober.
Drunk driving is the least of our problems; either that or everyone on
the highway in the morning is half in the bag already.
No, it isn't.
You still have these problems, among others, unaddressed:
You need an eye scanner and ear-bleed device to keep attention focused
outside.
You still have unequal speed limits.
You still have cars cutting in in from the trucks and stopping.
You still have myriad laws, regulations and practices that require
drivers to do so unrested.
