Event Details

Local author Dakota Lane will join us for a one-day writing workshop focused on telling your own story.

In this fast, fun sampler of a workshop, we will use myriad creative prompts and diverse methods to revisit and share the juicy parts of our life.

All levels of experience are welcome! You are encouraged to bring in one to five images (copies please, not precious originals) and will be provided with a blank book, and basic supplies to launch your own life story book.

We will write a musical playlist, an ultimate wish list, a super-fast family tree, and explore some of the best of and worst of times, proudest and funniest memories, and make a heroes and villains hall of fame.

Dakota Lane is the author of four award-winning books and writes for the New York Times and other publications. She has taught creative fiction and nonfiction workshops throughout the Hudson Valley, in libraries, bookstores, and other venues. She is currently working on her own memoir and hopes to discover more than 100 ways to tell her story--so she can share the methods with her students.
