Art Gallery Steffenka's Card Artworks - Dragoon Island!

M-Charizard has the colors of Barney and it's creeping me out a lot o_O

But these are awesome! I'm really fond of the Mega Lucario! Really wish it looked like that and and not yellow.

A few more new shinies:

WOW. I actually really wish that was Zebstrika's original design. That looks so striking, magnificent and beautiful all in one!

(and the males would be wearing guyliner which is even better :U)

Wow a real Zebra in Pokémon! I'm going to agree with Celever, those colors are better than the original. Also, adding that red color to Giratina even more clearly defines it as the devil and makes it look bad, like bad to bone. :)

I finally finished the last Alolan artwork for now, and am ready to present the 4 following! :D

alolan_spearow_by_steffenka-dazj6b2.png

Electric/Flying
Ability: Volt Absorb
HA: Intimidate

These variants of Spearow can only be found on Melemele Island. It was previously thought that, it was the electric powers of Tapu Koko that caused this adaptation. With time though, scientists discovered that the adaptation is actually due to Charjabug and Vikavolt preying upon Spearow with their electric attacks. With their Volt Absorb ability though, the bugs have resorted to hunt regular Spearow, who still can be found on the island.

alolan_watchog_by_steffenka-dazj6au.png

Normal/Ghost
Ability: Keen Eye/Cursed Body
HA: Insomnia

It's said that when a Patrat sees beyond the living world, it will evolve into an Alolan Watchog. In reality though, Watchog adapted their eerie powers in order to protect their young. They did so by moving their nests into graveyards, in which the spirits of the long passed taught Watchog it's powers. These powers have been taught from Watchog to Patrat through generations, which have resulted in every Patrat evolving into the Alolan version of Watchog.

alolan_metagross_by_steffenka-dazj6ba.png

Steel/Fire
Ability: Flash Fire
HA: Heavy Metal

Scientists still wonder about the reason behind Metagross' adaptation to the Wela Volcano Park, why only some Metagross adapted and why they are so rare in the first place. Alolan Metagross can be found in lava or other incredibly hot substances, absorbing the heat as a way of feeding. They are able to launch themselves with giant force using their "rocket-legs", and are said to be the inspiration behind the first space rockets.

And my favourite:

alolan_meowstic_by_steffenka-dazj6aj.png

Psychic/Dark
Ability: Unnerve/Bad Magic*
*Bad Magic: Psychic-type moves are super effective against Dark-type Pokémon.
HA: Limber

Meowstic in the Alola region, acts like the Pyroar in the Kalos region, living in small packs, however due to the two genders looking identical, both genders lead the pack. The spots on their bodies, help them camouflage in the savannahs on Poni Island, where they hunt Rattata and Raticate using their powerful psychic powers, as well as malicious techniques.

Wow the Alolan Meowstic looks AMAZING, but I love them all! I also really love the Bad Magic ability on it.

So here's a few random artworks, I've had on my computer for a while :p

First a Ribombee I drew, and then added some kind of filter on it:

Then there's a "sketch" of the Alolan Metagross I made, in its' shiny forme:

When I just couldn't find the image and it wouldn't pop up for me, but you ended up saving best for last. :)

As I said, I assumed @Little Cherrim is going to like this update quite a bit, because Cherrim's in it! :D

_alolan__bewear_by_steffenka-db12pgi.png

Jungle Bewear
Grass/Fighting
Fluffy/Mold Breaker
HA: Cute Charm

It's said that eons of crossbreeding between Bewear and Pangoro caused this variant of Bewear. These very rare Jungle Bewear can be found in the Lush Jungle near Route 5, and are thought to be very dangerous. With the combination of the strenght of a Pangoro and the unpredictability of a Bewear, has caused this variant to become highly sought after among veteran trainers as a final challenge, and once mastered, it is certainly a powerhouse on any team.

alolan_basculin_by_steffenka-db12pg7.png

Water/Fairy
Ability: Surge Swimmer*

The theory about the Guardian Pokémons' terrains not being able to affect wild Pokémon, were disproved with the discovery of the Alolan variant of Basculin (along with a select amount of other Alolan Pokémon). Basculin found in the waters surrounding the Ruins of Hope have been affected by the Misty Terrain, the Legendary Pokémon Tapu Fini creates. This nearby influence has caused a change in both the appearance and personality of Basculin, who now has features similar to Tapu Fini itself and a less hostile personality.

*Surge Swimmer: Doubles the Pokémon's Speed stat on Misty Terrain.

And my favourite:
alolan_cherrim_by_steffenka-db12pfy.png

Grass/Fairy
Ability: Flower Veil
HA: Harvest

The hot climate in Alola caused Cherrim to gain a more tree-like body. It can often be found standing in lakes and rivers, absorbing water through its' 'feet', which are in fact altered roots. Similarly to their Sinnohan counterparts, they are very joyful and active once the sun shines, however they also have a sense of justice, and will stand up for weak Pokémon in danger. It's said that ancient Alolan tribes considered Cherrim as a God of Fruits, and they have been found on multiple cave paintings from that time.

Kachow, right on the money!

(Also, is the Basculin inspired by Tapu Fini?)
Edit: Read the description, question answered.

I'm back with a couple of new Alolan Variations!

alolan_lapras_by_steffenka-db2p19i.png

Water/Rock
Ability: Shell Armor/Natural Cure
HA: Regenerator
Note: Based of the original design Lapras had.

It's said that the Kantonian Lapras, actually are Lapras that adapted to the cold climate of Kanto, and that the Alolan Lapras are the 'original' Lapras. However due to it being very rare, Kantonian Lapras were discovered first, and are therefore considered the 'original' Lapras. Corals grow on the back of Alolan Lapras, and they can therefore often be found living with Corsola near coral reafs, where they protect them against Mareanie and Toxapex.

alolan_houndoom_by_steffenka-db2p19h.png

Dark/Water
Ability: Early Bird/Storm Drain
HA: Rough Skin

Ancient Alolans considered Alolan Houndoom a 'God of Death', and it's thought as a guardian of the bridge, dead spirits cross to get to the spirit world. In reality though, the Alolan Houndoom adapted to these new changes, because there weren't enough territories in the Wela Volcano Park. Some Houndoom, chose to live near the beaches, and because of this, naturally learned to hunt in or near water.

Introducing: Dragoon Island!
dragoon_island_by_steffenka-db3qg5u.jpg

Dragoon Island, is actually a small archipalego in the middle of the ocean. The archipalego has a very unique fauna, in the fact that all of the Pokémon found on the island is the Dragon-type, or is related to it in some way, shape or form. Even Pokémon found in other regions, have adapted to the draconic wildlife on Dragoon Island, and as such, Pokémon like Drapion, Gogoat, Liepard and Tsareena, all gained the Dragon-type as an adaptation to the environment, as well as a different look compared to their Sinnohan, Kalosian, Unovan and Alolan counterparts. Scientists have discovered that the soil on Dragoon Island contains an unusual amount of crushed Dragon Scales, and it's thought that it is these that have influenced the Pokémon in their changes.

So get ready, cause for a while, Dragoon Island, and the new variants found on the island, will be the main focus of this thread!

The first Dragoonian Pokémon have been classified!

dragoonian_bruxish_by_steffenka-db45hyp.png

Dragoonian Bruxish
Water/Dragon
Ability: Strong Jaw/Dazzling
HA: Adaptability

Dragoonian Bruxish are, what Basculin are in Unova, found everywhere in Dragoon Island. Whether it's in lakes, rivers or the ocean, Dragoonian Bruxish are there. Here they feed on other Pokémon, like Horsea, Mantyke and Clauncher, which they capture with their astounding speed and strong jaw. Despite being one of the top predators underwater, Dragoonian Bruxish still fall prey to aerial masters, like Yanmega and Talonflame. However they do have one weapon against these predators. Despite having lost the appendage normal Bruxish have, they're still able to shoot psychic projectiles out of their mouth, which distract the attacker.

dragoonian_drapion_by_steffenka-db45hwy.png

Dragoonian Drapion
Poison/Dragon
Ability: Levitate

Dragoonian Drapion can be found in the jungles on the main island of Dragoon, where they mainly feed on Exeggcute. They are clumsy when flying through the air, however with their toxic stinger and toxic claws, they are fierce predators. The scientist who discovered the Dragoonian Drapion, took a Skorupi hatchling with him back home to Hoenn, which nearly caused a disaster once it evolved. Luckily it was recovered with no harm done, though reports of flying Drapion in Hoenn, have been appearing a lot more often...

375px-451Skorupi.png

Skorupi
Poison/Bug
Ability: Battle Armor/Sniper
HA: Keen Eye

Though Skorupi are mainly found in dry places, the Skorupi found on Dragoon Island, have relocated and are now found in jungles. Unlike some other Pokémon on Dragoon Island, Skorupi first develop their Dragon-types upon evolving, however they are still very dangerous to unsuspecting Grass-type Pokémon.

dragoonian_gogoat_by_steffenka-db45hxv.png

Dragoonian Gogoat
Grass/Dragon
Ability: Mold Breaker
HA: Grass Pelt

Dragoonian Gogoat are much more aggressive and territorial compared to their Kalosian counterparts, and they can often be seen fighting Torterra who are on the hunt for Skiddo. It is thought that the Dragoon Islands have been inhabited by an ancient civilisation, because of Dragoonian Gogoat paintings found on cave walls. Many competitive Gogoat breeders are currently seeking methods of obtaining a Dragoonian Gogoat, in order to create a mix of the two variants that'll have the personality of the Kalosian Gogoat and the look of a Dragoonian Gogoat.

375px-672Skiddo.png

Skiddo
Grass
Ability: Sap Sipper
HA: Grass Pelt

There is no big difference between the Kalosian and the Dragoonian Skiddo, other than the fact that the Dragoonian Skiddo aren't used to carrying people on it's back (which an unlucky scientist learned the hard way). Skiddo found on Dragoon Island are also way more aggressive compared to their Kalosian counterparts, and are taught to fight, from a young age, by their parents. They develop their Dragon-type upon evolving, but can be taught moves like Dragon Hammer or Dragon Rush by their parents.

I really like that Dragoonian Gogoat! Unlike the other Pokemon newly classified, the difference between the Kalosian and its Dragoonian form is quite subtle. It's immediately recognisable as Gogoat, but more ferocious and mystical - I can imagine the the bushy tail and the orange ribbon majestically blowing in the wind as it races across land at high speeds.

A few more Dragoonian Pokémon have been discovered!

dragoonian_mantine_by_steffenka-db4n35p.jpg

Dragoonian Mantine
Water/Dragon
Ability: Poison Point/Swift Swim
HA: Water Veil

Dragoonian Mantine are among the few Dragoonian variations that aren't hostile by nature. They swim in flocks with Mantyke, where they eat algae, however Pokémon getting too close to their poisonous stinger, are likely to get eaten as well. A Dragoonian Mantine with bright red spots on its back, has way more poison in their stinger, than a Dragoonian Mantine with faded spots, and it is by comparing spots, they decide who is the leader of their pack.

dragoonian_medicham_by_steffenka-db4n35j.jpg

Dragoonian Medicham
Fighting/Dragon
Ability: Pure Power
HA: Multiscale

It's said that when a Meditite on Dragoon Island meditate for long enough on Dragon Scale rich soil, it's spirit will abandon the psychic capabilities and instead took on the power of the sleeping dragon. While they meditate, they can sense enemies coming with their whiskers, and they are not afraid to attack ruthlessly with both their enhanced claws and ferocious kicks.

dragoonian_tropius_by_steffenka-db4n35t.jpg

Dragoonian Tropius
Grass/Dragon
Ability: Solar Power/Rough Skin
HA: Harvest

Dragoonian Tropius grow a more sour fruit compared to their Hoennese counterparts. They've also lost their ability to fly, but have instead grown thick skin, and a large tail to protect themselves from predators. Dragoonian Tropius swing their large spiked tail around as a way of destroying trees to mark territories, and as a way to obtain food, since any fruit that gets pierced by the spikes is eaten by it. Dragoonian Bounsweet sometimes hide on Dragoonian Tropius, by replacing the fruit hanging under their chin.
