Two dead after multiple tornadoes leave significant damage across Oklahoma on Wednesday

At least nine tornadoes touched down Wednesday in Oklahoma, leaving two dead and widespread damage across parts of the state.

A REAL POSSIBILITY ON THE NORTH EDGE OF THAT TOWN. THERE WAS A LOT TO KEEP UP WITH. YES, CERTAINLY. AND REALLY ALL OF OUR TORNADO REPORTS TODAY CAME OUT OF ONE SUPERCELL, BUT IT DID A LOT. AND SO THESE ARE JUST PRELIMINARY. TRUST ME, TOMORROW YOU’RE GOING TO SEE A LOT MORE TORNADO REPORTS OUT OF THIS. SO ALL THE ALL THE RED ICONS THAT YOU SEE RIGHT HERE, THIS IS THAT ONE SUPERCELL THAT CAME THROUGH DROPPED ALL THE TORNADO REPORTS, A LOT OF HAIL REPORTS, ALL CONCENTRATED BETWEEN OKLAHOMA, GRADY MCCLAIN, CLEVELAND COUNTY, AND THEN THE POTTAWATTAMIE COUNTY. AND WHEN ALL IS SAID AND DONE, GIVEN THE THE NUMEROUS HAILSTORMS THAT CAME THROUGH, THIS IS GOING TO GO DOWN AS A VERY COSTLY STORM. I MEAN, WHEN YOU THINK OF JUST WHERE ALL THE HAIL REPORTS CAME, CONCENTRÉ RATED IN THE LARGEST AREA IN OKLAHOMA, AND THAT IS ACROSS A OKC METRO TORNADO. REPORTS JUST PRELIMINARY WOULD PUSHING BETWEEN EIGHT TO A DOZEN TORNADO REPORTS. THAT ALL BASICALLY CAME AND WENT OFF OF ONE THUNDERSTORM. AND SO THE STORM IS NOW LIFTING OUT OF HERE. IF WE CAN GO OVER TO W TO BECAUSE FOR THE REST OF THE NIGHT, THE WEATHER’S GOING TO BE MUCH, MUCH QUIETER. THERE’S A LOW ANY CHANCE FOR A SHOWER EARLY IN THE MORNING BETWEEN RIGHT NOW, IT’S ALMOST 1130, BETWEEN ABOUT TWO AND 6 A.M. AS THIS COLD FRONT COMES THROUGH HERE. BUT THE RISK FOR SEVERE WEATHER IS WELL DOWN INTO EASTERN AND SOUTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA. THERE’S A LOW AND CHANCE FOR STORM HERE ON FRIDAY. A FEW SHOWERS ON SUNDAY AS WE GO INTO NEXT WEEK, WE’RE GOING TO SEE SOUTHERLY WINDS COME IN HERE. NOW, IT WILL BE A COOLER STRETCH OF WEATHER AS WE GO INTO NEXT WEEK. THANKS TO THE RAIN AND THE STORM. CHANCES THAT ARE INCREASING. BUT WHAT TO WATCH NEXT MONDAY AND NEXT TUESDAY CLOSELY FOR YET ANOTHER ROUND OF SEVERE WEATHER CHANCES. AND SO TONIGHT JUST GOES TO SHOW YOU THAT, YOU KNOW, YOU YOU HAVE THESE NIGHTS WHERE YOU CAN HAVE ONE STORM THAT WILL JUST BE REMEMBERED FOREVER AND TONIGHT WILL BE ONE OF THOSE NIGHTS, GIVEN THE WILD BEHAVIOR OF THE STORM THAT MANY OF US ARE GOING TO BE TALKING ABOUT FOR A VERY LONG TIME. AND AGAIN, IT’S ONLY APRIL, BUT WE HAVE MORE STORM CHANCES TO WATCH CLOSELY AS WE HEAD INTO NEXT WEEK. AND OF COURSE, WE’LL BE UPDATING YOU METEOROLOGIST JONATHAN CONDER WILL BE IN IN THE MORNING AND HE’LL HAVE AN UPDATE AGAIN ON THE RISK. WE’RE WATCHING FOR NEXT WEEK. BACK TO YOU. REALLY QUICK, THOUGH, AS WE MOVE FORWARD. JUST SET THE EXPECTATIONS RIGHT NOW FOR FOR OUR VIEWERS, BECAUSE I REMEMBER THE LAST TIME THAT WE HAD TORNADOES IN THE AREA. IN THE DAYS THAT FOLLOWED, IT SEEMED THAT EVERY SINGLE DAY THERE WOULD BE ANOTHER CONFIRMED REPORT, ANOTHER CONFIRMED REPORT. AND WHAT WAS MAYBE THREE TORNADOES BECAME FOUR OR FIVE, SIX, SEVEN. WHAT DO YOU FROM WHAT YOU SAW TODAY, WHAT IS YOUR WHAT IS YOUR PROFESSIONAL OPINION ON HOW THIS IS GOING TO PLAY OUT IN THE COMING DAYS? WELL, YOU’RE GOING TO SEE A BUNCH OF THAT ARE GOING TO COME IN. AND NOT EVERY TORNADO THAT OCCURS IN OKLAHOMA IS ONE THAT DROPS ON THE GROUND AND STAYS ON THE GROUND FOR 30 TO 45 MILES. SOMETIMES YOU’RE GOING TO HAVE THESE TORNADOES THAT JUST SKIP ALONG THE COUNTRYSIDE SIDE. AND SO WHAT WILL HAPPEN IS OBVIOUSLY THE WEATHER SERVICE WILL GO OUT, EMERGENCY MANAGERS WILL GO OUT, THEY WILL DO ASSESSMENTS AND THEY WILL TAKE THE DAMAGE THAT THEY FIND. AND ALSO OVERLAY IT ON TOP OF WHAT THE RADAR DAMAGE OR WHAT THE RADAR WAS INDICAING AT THAT TIME. SO THERE WILL BE A LOT OF DAMAGE SURVEYS THAT ARE GOING TO COME IN. BUT I ANTICIPATE THAT THIS WILL THIS WILL AT LEAST TAKE A COUPLE OF DAYS TO COMPLETE. NOW, WHAT’S GOING TO HELP OUR EMERGENCY MANAGERS AND THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IS THAT UNLIKE BACK IN FEBRUARY WHEN YOU HAD A BIG SQUALL LINE THAT STRETCHED FROM BASICALLY WOODWARD ALL THE WAY DOWN TO HOLLIS AND WENT EAST FROM STILLWATER ALL THE WAY DOWN TO SULFUR, IS THAT YOU HAD A LOT OF REAL ESTATE THAT YOU HAD TO COVER. AND THIS SITUATION, OUR REAL ESTATE IS GOING TO BE CONFINED TO BASICALLY ANADARKO, GO IN TOWARDS CHICKASHA, GRADY COUNTY, OKLAHOMA, CANADIAN OR I’M SORRY, OKLAHOMA. GRADY MCCLAIN AND POTTAWATTAMIE COUNTY. SO IT’LL BE AN AREA TO WATCH. BUT THE STORM IS STILL GOING, BY THE WAY. THERE IT IS. IT’S NOW MOVING OUT OF THE CENTRAL OKLAHOMA AND THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OF NORMAN. AND NOW HEADED INTO THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OF TULSA. SO THEY WILL PROBABLY HAVE TO DO SOME ASSESSMENT AS WELL. BUT BOTTOM LINE, LONG STORY THERE FOR EVAN IS THAT IT’LL TAKE A COUPLE OF DAYS, BUT JUST KNOW THAT WE’RE PROBABLY LOOKING, I WOULD SAY, ANYWHERE BETWEEN
