[FIN] Suomen Pankki perustettiin vuonna 1811 nimellä Waihetus-, Laina- ja Depositioni-Contori Suomen Suuren-Ruhtinaanmaassa. Perustamisen tarkoituksena oli irrottaa Suomen suurruhtinaskunta Ruotsin rahaliikenteestä. Pankki antoi lainoja ja otti vastaan talletuksia. Yksityishenkilöiden talletukset olivat kuitenkin korottomia. Sen vuoksi vain harvat käyttivät mahdollisuutta säilyttää varojaan pankissa. Suomen Pankki toimi aluksi Turussa, kunnes se vuonna 1819 siirrettiin Helsinkiin useiden muiden virastojen tapaan.
[EN] The Bank of Finland was founded in 1811 under the name Waihetus, Laina and Depositioni-Contori in the Grand Duchy of Finland. The purpose of the establishment was to separate the Grand Duchy of Finland from Swedish money transfer. The bank issued loans and took deposits. However, retail deposits were interest-free. Therefore, only a few took the opportunity to keep their funds in the bank. The Bank of Finland initially operated in Turku, until in 1819 it was transferred to Helsinki, like several other agencies.
