You are invited to take part in a research project about sibling experiences of individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders (NDD). It seeks to explore the personal journeys of siblings growing up alongside someone with NDD, exploring their past, present, and projected future experiences in the context of Singapore. The study is being conducted by Dr Divjyot Kaur and Savita Kumar and will contribute to the honours project in the Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours) Degree at James Cook University Singapore. |
You may participate if you are a neurotypical sibling of an individual with diagnosed neurodevelopmental disorders (NDD). You must also be aged between 18 to 35 years old, a Singapore Citizen or PR and have no past or current diagnosed mental health disorders. If you agree to be involved in the study, you will be invited to be interviewed online through Microsoft Teams, at a day and time convenient for you. The interview, with your consent, will be audio-taped, and should take approximately 60 minutes of your time. Interview questions will include your experiences growing up with your sibling with NDD, caregiving roles (if any), wellness, coping, and support networks. |
Taking part in this study is completely voluntary and you can stop taking part in the study at any time and withdraw your data within one month of the interview, without explanation or prejudice. Your responses will be kept strictly confidential. The de-identified data from the study will be used in the Honours research thesis and/or research publications and may be used and shared for future research. Your identity will be protected through the use of pseudonyms. If you are interested to receive the study results (when available upon study completion), please contact the Co-Investigator via email. |
