Engaging the right volunteers and supporting and managing a volunteer workforce is critical to the delivery of Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) services.
The Volunteering Australia , reported volunteering rates have been declining over time (from 36% in 2010, to just 29% in 2019) and due to COVID- 19 pandemic hit , two thirds of volunteers (66%) stopped volunteering altogether equating to an estimated loss of 12.2 million hours per week. Furthermore, volunteers aged over 65 were more likely to have stopped volunteering than any other age group.
This course is one of four interactive sessions designed by the Northern Collaborative Project and delivered by Northern Volunteering SA Inc. The sessions focus on the key aspects of attracting, recruiting, developing, retaining and managing volunteers:
- Overview of Essentials of Managing Volunteers (24 June 2021)
- Volunteer Workforce: Recruitment and Management (August 2021, date to be advised)
- Volunteer Workforce: Learning and Development (March 2022, date to be advised)
- Managing Difficult Conversations and Behaviours and Setting up Boundaries (May 2022, date to be advised)
Participants will be provided with an in-depth study guide, a range of other resources to support reflection on current practice and 1:1 encouragement and support from a course tutor who is an experienced manager of volunteers.
