An excellent opportunity has arisen to be part of a small but unique team, supporting the work of Counter Terrorism Policing North East. This varied role delivers a broad range of communications activity locally, regionally and nationally.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable responding to complex communications issues and working quickly and accurately within a fast paced and challenging environment.

You will be confident briefing partners and advising senior leaders, in addition to managing media interest in CT operations and prosecutions through your knowledge of media law. Your ability to build and maintain great relationships will generate support for our activity and the effective delivery of national strategies and campaigns.

You will have a talent for planning and delivering internal and external communications across a range of disciplines, including employee engagement, stakeholder management and media relations.

Eligible candidates will hold a degree or relevant qualification in communications, journalism or public relations, or have significant experience in the business area. Experience in a demanding police or public sector environment would be an advantage.

You must be prepared to travel for business purposes both regionally and nationally, work flexibly to suit business needs and take part in a call out rota. You will also be expected to be available outside normal office hours for professional advice and support and in response to spontaneous incidents or operations.

Please note that the successful candidate will be subject to Enhanced level personal and financial vetting checks prior to appointment and Developed level personal and financial vetting checks after appointment.

You must be a British citizen and eligible to hold a British passport to work for Counter Terrorism Policing North East.
