Save the Mattole’s Ancient Forest Arrestee Fund!

Rainbow Ridge is a precious part of the Mattole Acient Forest with old-growth forest that Humboldt Redwood Company is intent on logging. The community and forest defenders have banded together to use their voices and bodies to defend the biodiversity and landbase so rich with life.
On June 8th, a tree-sitter named Rook took residence in a 200-year-old Douglas Fir on Rainbow Ridge to use their body, life, and voice to directly disrupt the logging of Rainbow Ridge. Rook experienced harassment from the Lear security guards below, and danger from a chainsaw-armed climber who ascended their tree to cut down almost all of Rook's food and water supplies in an effort to bully Rook out of their tree.
Forest Defenders on the ground were compelled by love and rage to act in solidarity with Rook. In the early hours of the morning on June 17th, a 30-foot monopod was erected blockading Monument Gate (Humboldt Redwood Company's main log truck entrance to Rainbow Ridge.) Isabel the brave ascended the monopod and attached her banner to the top of the structure with two clear demands: "Leave Rook Alone! Protect Rainbow Ridge!" People on the ground at Monument Gate held a banner reading "Stop Greenwashed Logging!" when around 4:00A.M., the Humboldt County Sheriffs arrived on the scene. The first truck that pulled up drove into the crowd, forcing demonstrators to back up or be struck by the vehicle. They began shoving and violently arrested a journalist, a videographer, and a safety liaison.
Hours later, when Isabel the climber was forcefully removed from the monopod, she was also arrested and taken to the jail.
At this point, what is needed to support these arrestees is money for legal fees, medical costs and damaged or lost equipment.
