The USAC Financial Supports Commission (FSC) aims to make campus life more affordable and accessible for students, and through this, we are reviving efforts to increase the meal swipe waiver offered to students that live on the Hill. Currently, trading one swipe can get students a voucher (that they must obtain from their residence hall) that equates to $3.77 on campus. For many students that may not be able to return to the Hill for food, the current value is not enough for purchasing a full meal and is much lower than the actual value of one swipe.
With this, we have created a petition and are gathering as much information as possible in relation to this issue, such as student food insecurity at UCLA/inaccessibility to the hill during the school week/etc. In efforts to understand these issues on campus, we want to make this a collaborative effort between our office and UCLA students to get a better assessment of student needs. Filling out this survey could help yourself and future Bruins have better food options on campus and reduce food insecurity!
