I won't be quite that hasty... :-)

I was once forced to use googlegroups when supernews croaked.
Then I subbed to giganews.

But, I do post from work on very rare occasions, and have to use
googlegroups from there as it's my only access.

Just ignore the obvious stupid questions?

Oh, you got him good there. You got him right in the jimmies. You got the
last word on someone who killfiled you. What a great victory; what glorious
triumph against a fearsome foe. Yes, you have truly demonstrated your
strength, put forth your best effort, and slain the dragon. Surely fame and
fortune will be yours for the asking, and all the pretty girls will desire
you now.

What are you going to do for your next victory, have a foot race with a
person in a persistent vegetative state?

Nope!
It's voluntary..... ;-)
After posting on Austin.singles for a bit, I found I could get laid
anytime I want. One of the perks of being female.

Only thing is, I won't sleep with just anyone. I have to know them,
trust them, be friends with them first!

I'm picky that way.....

Sounds wonderful!

You spend even more money on ingredients than I do.
I just made stuffed cabbage rolls this weekend with a tomato sauce made
from scratch (except for some canned paste) along with steamed mushrooms
and broccoli.

Whining about the newbies is the oldest sport in the
universe, now especially chosen to be the Special
Olympics of Usenet posting so the feeble minded like
you can somehow find something to say.

> So if anybody wants to flame me,

Why? It's so much more fun to ridicule you from
Google Groups, right here in front of your face
where you can't see it.

> do it from a real news provider.

Google Groups _is_ a "real news provider", and with
its ability to show me which of the thousands of
threads to which I've contributed contain new
material, one of the better ones, my best bet at
answering responses to my own posts.

Nah, group stupidity is even uglier than individual
stupidity like the bigotry you're displaying now.

They have the best spam filtering system I've had the opportunity to
use. Posting to Usenet generates a lot of spam. I see maybe 1% of
the spam that's sent to my account. I'll continue to use it as long
as they keep filtering my spam for me.

It appears there's been a quantum leap in the effectiveness of ISP's
to filter spam. That, or the 2003 anti-spam law is finally starting
to dig in. Whatever, I've not received a single spam in 2 weeks
through Comcast, not even to my local email client filters. About
damn time!

Now, if they'd only get the rest of the network/computing industry
outta my computer.

Some of us have no option other than Google. My ISP does not provide
email accounts or newsgroup access. I have to used webbased mail
accounts and read newsgroups in Google. That's the price I have to pay
for faster upload speeds. Should I stick with the incredibly
inefficient national phone company, I can have an email address and
newgroups at a blazing upload speed of 4KBS as opposed to my current
upload speed of 126KBS. Because I upload large amounts of material to
my classroom website, I'd rather have the upload speed and forgo the
newsgroup access from the hone company ISP.

Jude's one of MY favorite posters. Her culinary ideas are well-founded and
innovative, and I've gotten some VERY good recipes from her, including a
soup recipe which wowed my guests at a cookout earlier this year. (Of
course, it's entirely possible that my praising Jude will cause others to
find her guilty by association..)

How funny that you would say that. This thread made me realize I have
not received *one single* spam email since I signed up for Comcast.
Since I still have my old account, I'm still inundated with email from
some company selling services of some kind ... in French! I can't
get rid of them, they keep changing their 'name' ... grrrr.

It's been a relief. Also funny, I only get those Paypal and ebay phishing
emails to my old account. Haha, in case I didn't already know, you
are a fraud because that is not my address any longer!

nancy,

I am at comcast as well. In outlook express. To snag and delete mail
you can just create a new mail rule and enter @france and/or .com.fr or
.fr addresses to delete all those emails. I also have @yahoo and @hotmail
in effect as I don't know anyone who uses those mail systems. And I check
"Do not download it from server" as the action. Let comcast empty their
own trash!

I still get false "mail subsystem delivery error" emails. I know they're
false because they come into mailboxes that I assigned garbage Outging
SMTP server addresses to, so mail can't be sent from them.

I create new mailboxes for each website and listserv I register to. This
lets me see who's passing my email addresses around. I delete them in
junkiest first rotation if I run out of mailboxes.

Once I got an email from a software developer host site I used and it
wasn't sent as a Blind carbon copy, BCC. Every developer got an email
with the the entire site's mailing list (100s of addresses). In a not so
mild email I chewed the offender's head off for being so careless!
Luckily, software developers are a pretty noble bunch and nothing came of
it!

All the best,

Andy

But once somebody quotes you in a reply, replacing news header with theirs,
your quoted text will be permanently archived, unless "everyone" in the

Nonsense. Who would you get to do the heavy lifting?

The way I heard it: "Men are good for only two things, and one of them
is moving heavy furniture."

I love you too, darling.

But I'm a tad insulted that you don't remember replying to my
posts......you beat it through my head how to spell (and pronounce)
co-ti-ja cheese. So much so that i even went to the grocery clerk and
told them they had it spelled wrong on the shelf label. You made a
permanent inpact on my cooking....and my heart <3

Speaking of google, is it having trouble today, or is the problem on my
side? I've gone to www.google.com a few times today and gotten nowhere
with my searches. I just get the hourglass figure that it's thinking
about it forever, no search results.
