CLUJ Spring 2023 Editor Application
Thank you for your interest in the Comparative Literature Undergraduate Journal. Prospective academic editors should complete the following form as part of their application to the editorial staff. Only undergraduate UC Berkeley students may apply, from any department, major, year.

We have a limited amount of openings for our editorial staff and will therefore prioritize applications received early. The application deadlines are as follows: 

Priority Deadline: February 1st, 11:59 PM PT 
General Deadline: February 12th, 11:59 PM PT 

Your application will not be considered complete until we also receive a relevant writing sample. Writing samples should demonstrate the quality of your academic writing and knowledge of academic literature, and usually consist of essays or excerpts of papers from previous academic coursework.

CLUJ relies on the active participation of the editors, so we allow only 3 absences for the entire semester. We therefore encourage you to leave enough time in your schedule for CLUJ. Please describe your extracurricular commitments this semester. *
CLUJ is a publication that strives to publish interdisciplinary work from different cultures. How would you engage with these materials in a sensitive and rigorous manner?

Describe your past research experience. How comfortable are you with evaluating academic papers with a minimum length of 16 pages? If you have no past experience, please explain what you would like to get out of your editorial experience.

Editors accepted before the add/drop deadline of Feb 8th have the option to enroll in COMLIT 198 to gain 1 units in return for their commitment (editors who also serve on our partner Vagabond may gain up to 2 units). Please check if you will be participating as an editor for units.
