EDWARD SCHNEIDER Obituary

Schneider
LT COL, (RET) U.S. AIR FORCE EDWARD CHARLES SCHNEIDER
July 15, 1937
January 20, 2021
LT COL, (Ret) U.S. Air Force Edward Charles Schneider was born on July 15, 1937, and he departed from this world on January 20, 2021.
Edward was born in Peoria, Illinois to his father, Edward Senior and his mother Bessie May Strayer. He had one sister, Carol who resided in Jupiter, Florida until her passing in 2003.
In high school Ed was quite the athlete, he played basketball, was on the varsity wrestling team, and he competed in Discus and Shot-put events for his high school's track & field team. Somehow, he even found time to play the trombone for the school's marching band.
Edward attended Bradley University, graduating with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. After earning his degree, Edward began his commission in the Air Force, his various assignments at NORAD in 1959, Keesler AFB, Richards-Gebaur AFB, the Pentagon, and overseas to Korea and Germany. Ultimately returning to Colorado Springs, where Ed retired after serving 22 years in the military.
While Ed was working in Cheyenne Mountain, he met his wife, Freida Ann Mount. Their wedding took place at Ent Air Force Base in 1968. After the military, Ed began his 2nd career working at Martin Marietta's Waterton Canyon complex. Later, through merger, they became Lockheed Martin where Ed worked on the Peacekeeper ICBM program, the Titan IV commercial launch vehicle program, and with Loral Systems to implement the upgrades and refurbishment of our ICBM's launch control silos.
Ed retired a second time in 2003 and spent much of his leisure time stock trading and collecting various items of interest. Edward was a good man who provided for his family very well, and was an outstanding and supporting father who will be missed dearly. Edward was preceded by his wife, Frieda Ann in 2015. He is survived by his only son, Todd who resides in Colorado Springs.
There will be a memorial service for Edward at Pikes Peak National Cemetery, scheduled on February 19, 2021 at 11:00 AM.
