This is a dramatic view of St Michael's Mount and monastery against a dark, stormy sky. Light is shining on the monastery, picking it out against the clouds. A line of hooded figures, some on horseback, others walking, are proceeding down the beach towards the mount as the tide comes in, with waves approaching on the left-hand side. The closer figure at the rear of the line is on foot, and carrying some fishing nets. There is fishing equipment in the foreground lying on the sand.
