Sending quick messages (limited to 140 characters) to share quick updates about themselves on Twitter or other microblogging services has been embraced by 11% of online Americans, up from 6% in May 2008. Tweeting is mainly a pastime of young adults, with roughly one-in-five online Americans ages 18 to 24 (19%) and ages 25 to 34 (20%) having used Twitter or similar services. Internet users who log on wirelessly, from laptops or cell phones, are also more likely to be tweeting.
