I had some 10' 2x4s in the back of my truck that I bumped with my tractor when plowing... Damn thing slowly slid into the ends of the wood. It broke a 6 in or so flap in the front of my bed. Can the composite bed be fixed? I have done fiberglass work before but not sure what it anything will bond to the composite bed? I sure as heck am not going to replace the whole bed. Thx!

Try JB weld. It would be my best guess. You can find it at any hardware store.

Get some aluminum diamond plate and make a panel to cover the whole front plastic panel and bolt it to the existing plastic bed, butting some silicone over the broken seams to waterproof the bed.

I've wondered how much force it would take to crack one of these beds; apparently it takes a bit. I fixed a break on my wifes Subaru under the front license plate with PC-7. Pretty strong two part glue make for all kinds of plastics and composites.

Good question. My guess is that anything with a tractor would be too much force for the TACO's composite bed to handle.

Weathertech floor liners moded to hold OEM floor mats, weathertech vent visors, Toyota bed mat, LEER 100XL cap, hood gasket mod to stop whistling.
Now this I'd like to see. I can't see it happening unless it was really cold or something very pointy.

You can't see a 2x4 with several thousand pounds of force, and possibly more than that, going through a composite bed? I've seen a thousand pound load go through the back of a truck cab and the front of the box at 30 kph (20 mph). Boxes aren't THAT strong.

    It's just polyester resin fiberglass.

If you've done glass repair, you know the drill: grind, sand, tack cloth, resin, cloth, squeegee, dry, repeat as desired.

Westin lights, Westin Light bar holder, New front bumper, Custom floor matts, Steering wheel cover, board in bed to keep groceries from rolling around, new radio, New flat bed cover.
I would just take the plastic stuff out and if wanted put some new stuff in can't be hard

What were you plowing in January?

I definitely wouldn't use JB weld.

If its just a small 6 inch flap I would try to line the flap back like it was, use some thing to hold it together and in place, and use some PL construction adhesive, then paint it black. Just dont let it dry anywhere you dont want it forever. It will dry stronger than the composite bed. They have it at Home Depot.

Edit: I"m not sure how it takes to paint, never tried it.

Attached is the pic as requested... I put some black silicone in the crack to keep it from leaking water into the bed until I can fix it. To answer some of the other questions yes it was cold around 10- 15 degrees but that's not bad not in this country anyway. I bumped into it very slowly, maybe 1/2 a mile an hour while the blade was down pulling 20" of snow. I have a JD 1050 which is a mid size tractor... that I would guess weighs apx. 2500 lbs.

Ouch. Looks fixable though. I don't want to know what Toyota would charge for a new bed.

I think if it was a steel bed it probably would have pushed the front part of the bed right into the cab.

Looks deep, you might need another box. if you plow into a tractor looks you where going more than 1/2 mph.

    Sucks man.

    Search Craigslist for "Tacoma Bedliner"

I've seen beds on there for cheap because people don't realize it's the actual bed and not a bed liner.

She was heavy enough to crack the bed, apparently.

In case you were wondering, a replacement bed bought new is about $1300 at VillageToyotaParts, though I suspect shipping will add a lot to the total, since it probably needs pallet freight.
