Books & Love Letters #39 [with big news!]

Books & Love Letters is a weekly post in which I discuss all the books I received in the previous week (for review, bought, borrowed, swapped ect...), tell you what I've read and reviewed and showcase all the pretty letters that come to my mailbox.
Lovely Laura from The Traveling Owl lent the name and hosts the original Books & Love Letters post.

Hello and Welcome to another post of Books & Love Letters! It's nice to see so many new faces!
This week has been slow again, didn't buy any books, so there's "only" new ARCs. But I had some other exciting new things on my plate.
I have started a second blog! Red Couch Therapist where I will write about my writing LOL. It feels funny having my own personal writing mingle with the professional works here and you guys come for reviews, not my own dabbling in writing. So all my NaNoWriMo writing will go in there. I have a perma-link on the right side, but other than this and the tab on top there will be no more NaNo here^^
Also, I only need two more followers here to get to 100, which is a very nice feeling :)
Anyway, on to the books:

New On The Shelves
ARCs:

The Goddess Legacy by Aimée Carter
This is a collection of novellas about the other gods in the series, back stories about Calliope, Ava, Persephone, James and Henry. While I wasn't all too impressed with Goddess Interrupted and decided to not review it here, I hope that this short story collection will hold some interesting little nuggets :)

Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry
I was really, really excited when I came across this one on netGalley. I heard some really good things about this story and I'm so excited to read it. Isn't it always the "wrong" guys that make us see that maybe everything else is much more wrong than they are? I already have butterflies in my belly :)
*thanks to Harlequin via netGalley for granting me access to both ARCs.

Recently Read:
Pure by Julianna Baggott: This was my first DNF this year. It took me two weeks to get through the first 150 pages and by then I still couldn't be made to care about any of the characters. They points of view were shifting so quickly and the characters were so detached from each other, it just didn't work for me.
Shelfability: Borrow.

The Ash-Born Boy (novella) by Victoria Schwab: OMG this was so awesome! I absolutely adore The Near Witch and this little novella is literally throwing oil to the flames! :) Cole's story is a sad one, but Schwab's writing is so beautiful and graceful you just have to love it and long for more. Makes me even more anxious about January and The Archived! :)
Shelfability: Covet! (available online, can be downloaded for free)

Insurgent by Veronica Roth: Another OMG - there are no words for this one! What a contrast to Pure! I read all 529 pages in 24h! It's a different league; several over, actually. While I had some things figured out before they were revealed it was still a breathtaking thrill-ride and I can't believe there isn't even a title for the third book announced >.< Hurry up!
Shelfability: Covet!

Recent Blog Activity:
Books & Love Letters: #38 [issue the first]
Waiting on Wednesday: #30 Fade Out by Nova Ren Suma

Alright, that's it from me this week. I'll show off my pretty letters next week and I'll have Nikki Jefford's Spellbound Blog Tour stop by for a guest post and giveaway! ^^ Until then, leave me some comments, visit my new blog and keep reading!

  1. I got these two from NetGalley last week, too, and can't wait to start them - especially PUSHING THE LIMITS. This just sounds like the perfect contemporary for me. :)

    Happy reading!

  4. You've been busy! Both of your books look fab - I've not heard of the second one before, but it looks really interesting. I need to check out the Goddess books to see how I find them - there's been so many mixed reviews. Enjoy!

  5. I loved The Near Witch as well and I can't wait to read The Ash Born Boy. You may like Chime as well since it is the same kind of story, a witchy type tale. I requested Pushing the Limits at Net Galley so I'm really hoping I get it! Great haul, nice blog, new follower!

Looks like many people got The Goddess Legacy in their mailbox this week... but I just can't bring myself to read another Aimee Carter book too soon. Was so disappointed of her second book in the The Goddess Test series:(
    Have a great week!:)
