But I'll probably keep mistiming.

I did name a series of murderholes and ancillary scaffolding after Genin! That is a pretty ringing endorsement! Probably the perils of advancing time by one step instead of unpausing and repausing. Whatever works for you, man. Don't be afraid to just unpause, let things run a few ticks, then pause. Take a screenshoot, and look at your reports to get a handle on the flow of the battle.

Markus_cz is dead. I wonder why his death has saddened me this much. Possibly because he was the first dwarf I met here in Bronzestabbed, who helped me back to health when I arrived here to take command of the fortress. Maybe it was his selflessness, who would sooner be cast down in the muck of Ugathville rather than use his connections and talents to maintain a position in the fortress itself. Even so, I can't help but wonder why he was out beyond the fortress when the goblins struck. Was it some foolish desire to help? Was it his duty? Was it some whim that was indecipherable, his destiny? I never asked why he hadn't moved away from Ugathville. I guess I never will now. Aww, Marcus. Hey, Sky Shadowing, could I trouble you to use the Journal Entry banner instead of the Update banner, for your journal entries? It may seem trivial, but when it comes time to archive the thread, being able to search based on the journal entry URL may make it easier to grab those posts and put them in the right place.

Keep it behind locked doors, and keep the kids burrowed in a kiddie prison.

24 Limestone, 246 Well, my wife is in the hospital, I'll free up a couple of medical people to tend to our wounded. Right, right, the fortress must be prepared. First some of the continuing stockpile project. These ones will hold cloth and clothing next to our new workshops. The siege workshops are also expanded, we're going to need a lot of balistas. I'm not sure how I feel about our sherrif having to be in the same room as criminals, so I order a new prison. M and other dwarves havecomplained we lack dining tables. We'll soon see about expanding things in the main dining hall to fix that. Idlers are down to 3, so I hold off on other new projects for the moment. It's nice to see the dwarves working together though, despite their pasts. Nidhhogg throws a tantrum. Though investigating doesn't seem to give a logical reason. I'll keep most militia divisions on standby anyhow to clear up the previous overseer's long patrol after effects. Something will have to be done about this unruly militia though. Perhaps some new barracks and training halls will have to be my next project as Overseer. Then I get a most peculiar message. Pfft, ghosts. Most likely it was just Nidhhogg trying to blame someone else for his wroth. It's only a bed though, I'm not worried. As we move into sandstone, the fortress is relatively quiet, digging and crafting going on at quite a pace, but otherwise uneventful. Some of our craftsmen produce amazing works during this time though. Having been informed that a caged dwarf cannot eat, I order the cage torn down, copper chains to replace it. I am awaiting more chains from the forges below before I relocate the prison however. I notice something else too. Qword is still a member of The Voxel Squad. I don't think the squad needs such a disreputable sort in its ranks. He is replaced by Chickenfrogdwarf, who will hopefully be less of a bum now he's a soldier. I also start to create new bedrooms in some of the engraved rooms in the fortress. Once some of them are complete I will commence with the deconstruction of Ugathville finally. Synthorange and Dirty Frank join the siege engineering team Barely have I completed the new bedrooms when. Well. See for yourself. 13 Sandstone, 246 Not the most eventful month so far! Migrant list later/tomorrow. Once migrants are done, I'll start on the fortifications and removing Ugathville.

And of course the ghost that caused trouble HAD to be Bad Munki. I couldn't actually find where he got up to his mischief either. I did find another ghost, but since he wasn't up to anything, well.

13 Sandstone, 246 Migrant report: 7 Migrants braved the trip and came to the fortress on or around 13 Sandstone, 246. Slooby, Manchild Balon, Potter -> With Magner badly hurt, I clear her from the militia for the time being, putting Balon in her place in 'The Walled Skies' Metafurk, Armoursmith -> Adding weaponsmithing, blacksmithing and metalcrafting. Her place is in the magma forges. Those picks, axes and wheelbarrows won't make themselves! Spermy Smurf, Jeweler -> Woodcutter. He also gets siege operations. Rather Watch Em, Fisherdwarf -> transferred into Siegecrafting. (Rather Watch Them wouldn't fit) Symuun, Potter -> Siege operations, Wood Cutting and Carpentry Peepers, Farmer -> Siege operations Wood Cutting and Carpentry Siege operations is because SOMEONE has to operate the new Ballistae

Furthermore, ghosts should be able to use workshops based on their profession when they died. The workshop wouldn't produce anything, but it'd be unusable due to being haunted, except by maybe a fell mood dwarf, one of those might PREFER a haunted workshop. Or something.

I always have difficulty remembering previous fortresses. Even if I do remember the names, I'm never quite certain where each one fell in the order or what it was about. This is the rough list from my recollection: Boatmurdered - The original. Elephants, cheese, fire and death. Headshoots - Evil biome, cold war fortress, extra-dimensional spaces and the giant mug of lava. Syrupleaf - Glacier biome, ballistas, too much !!conspiracy!! in the background, the giant middle-finger with real flip-off action and the spawn Gemclod - Swamp biome, giant statues, Secret mad emperor vaults, chess board great hall, comatose baron ??? - Toilet-drain underground canal, unkillable forgotten beasts? was reclaimed at least once, I think Bronzestabbed - this one!
