Are you a high schooler or a recent high school graduate that aspires to make a change in your community?
Do you want to explore ways to propose solutions to some of the most pressing issues in Chicago?
Do you want to familiarize yourself with the design thinking framework?
Do you want to meet other high school students, professionals, and community leaders from across the city?
If so, apply to the Innovate a Better Chicago Design Challenge!
This design challenge will not abide by the conventional design challenge style. It is a challenge that will emphasize the use of different skills including, but not exclusively: coding, art, math, science, and graphic arts. We urge youth that posses unique talents to bring those talents and their whole-selves to this challenge. All skill levels are welcomed.
What to expect:
Meals & transportation stipends provided (if needed)
Day 1
-Meet other students interested in tackling the same issues in Chicago
-Meet your mentors and learn more about the design thinking framework
-In small teams, you will work on proposing solutions to an issue you are passionate about
Day 2
-Continue working on your projects and presentation
-Participate in a networking workshop (i.e., learn how to successfully network)
-Network with non-profits and local organizations at a resource fair
-Present to a panel community leaders

Incoming High School Freshmen
Incoming High School Sophomores
Incoming High School Juniors
Incoming High School Seniors
Incoming College Freshman and/or Recent High School Graduates (2019)
The Design Challenge event will take place from Friday August 9th - Saturday August 10th
