In 2013 I was privileged to research and write an article for National Geographic magazine entitled “The First Artists.” (You can learn more here: vagabond-adventure.com/projects.) As part of that research I became the second journalist to descend into Chauvet Cave, France, home to the oldest human artwork in the world. On a far wall of this enormous cave was a gallery of remarkable artwork, created 36,000 years ago. This is one close up of that gallery, a beautiful portrait of four horse heads drawn in firelight and charcoal, without the benefit of pictures or other drahttps://vagabond-adventure.com/projects.)wings; images that came directly from the hand, head and heart of an artist who roamed this cave during the last ice age, 34,000 years before Rome existed.

This image is unique to our Vagabond-Adventure store. I have a limited number of pictures from these rare locations. This one is available in digital format, but can also be printed and framed and hung in your house or workplace. Look for those in the Pictures & Images section of the store.
