I know the IE5.x web accessories are not meant
for IE6, and some work and some don't if you
did an upgrade to IE6 from IE5.x, but what about
web accessories for IE6?

Has MS discontinued web accessories for IE? Anyone know?

Hi JR- It's still called Web Accessories - you can get it here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/previous/webaccess/ie5wa.asp

All of the functions work fine in IE6 except that you'll need to do a
Refresh on the blank page that the Images List click brings up.

Be aware also that there is a bug in the Zoom functions. The following is a
quote of a previous posting by Alan Edwards of a previous quote by Ron
Vernon which outlines the fix: Regards, Jim Byrd

This is a bug in the web accessories.

To fix it, use Notepad to open ZOOMIN.HTM (found usually in
WINDOWS\WEB ),
and edit it to read both image dimensions before setting any of them:

old contents:
...
h = parentwin.event.srcElement.height * 2;
parentwin.event.srcElement.height = h;
w = parentwin.event.srcElement.width * 2;
parentwin.event.srcElement.width = w;
...

new contents (the 3rd line in the fragment above moved up):
...
h = parentwin.event.srcElement.height * 2;
w = parentwin.event.srcElement.width * 2;
parentwin.event.srcElement.height = h;
parentwin.event.srcElement.width = w;
...

Do the same for ZOOMOUT.HTM.

Thanks, but I think you missed the point of my question.
The current web accessories, if you look at that download,
states it is only for IE5.x (though they will "sort of" work in IE6).
And I believe MS has stated that the current web accessories
are not meant for IE6.

I was just wondering if MS plans on updating the web
accessories for IE6.

Hi JR - I have no idea - perhaps one of the MVP's might be able to comment.
In any event, you can, of course, wait for the (hoped for) IE6 version, or -
if you just want the functionality - you can use the IE5 versions subject to
the constraints I posted previously. Our intent in this newsgroup is to try
and help people, but it is certainly your choice. You should note, BTW, the
MS very often directs you to mskb answers for IE6 questions which are still
written for IE5 users. They evidently haven't caught up on all the
applicable vs. non-applicable changes. While IE5.5SP2 and IE6 are very
similar in many respects, in the Web Accessories case, I suspect that a
fully IE6-operational version will take at least a few changes to the IE5
Web Accessories, and I would bet that that's well down on their list of
things to do "real soon now" given the other problems with IE6. YMMV

As near as I can tell the statement about IE6 is just a case of CYA.
