Occasionally—it actually rarely happens—someone’s occupation throws me off.
That happened with Rei.
I had never imagined to see a security guard wearing lolita fashion.
Of course, that was my mistake.

Inspired by the stunningly creative street fashion that exploded on the streets of Tokyo and Osaka in the late 1990’s, photo-journalist Kjeld Duits launched JAPANESE STREETS in 2002. This makes JS one of the first fashion blogs on the net, and the very first to cover Japanese street fashion.

@Louise & Martin: Glad you like Rei’s look. I don’t shoot Lolita fashion very often, but Rei seemed to have something special. Perhaps because she created her own dress. It shows how much she loves this style.

@Kjeld: You’re right, she somehow gives off a different feeling from the other lolita-styled girls you shot. Perhaps, as you said, because it is self-made that it suits her so well. And her outfit doesn’t look as overloaded as lolitas sometimes do, although it’s full of cute details.

@Alexandra: Yes, japanese footwear rocks. And I am very picky about how I shoot shoes. A Japanese TV program recently even introduced me on TV because of that. ^^
