Biz Tech Competition (BiTC):

Showcasing MIS Class Projects

(immediately following the BTS event)

The Biz Tech Competition (BiTC) competition is part of a daylong Business Technology Symposium (BTS) event hosted by WSU’s Management, Information Systems, and Entrepreneurship department in the Carson College of Business. This competition showcases projects designed and built by students in MIS classes. MIS classes foster active learning where students learn by doing hands-on projects to develop technology solutions to business challenges. To further cultivate such a learning environment, the MISE department is organizing this competition to further challenge students to expand their technology skills through active participation and experimentation.

Format:

Poster sessions (demonstration of your prototype on your laptop is optional).

Poster Size: 48 x 36 inches or 24 x 36 inches.

Students can go to http://bcu.vetmed.wsu.edu/posters to get the posters printed.

Registration:

To participate in the inaugural Biz Tech Competition, please submit project description by September 30, 2018.

You can submit the following two kinds of projects:

  1. Completed Projects:
    A project you completed in past MIS courses
  2. Work-In-Progress Projects:
    Project you are currently doing in Fall18 MIS courses.

The posters will be judged by the BTS speakers, tech professionals, MISE faculty, and staff.
Competition acceptance will be notified on October 1.

Upon acceptance a poster must be created and presented to the judges
(details regarding the poster will be emailed to you along with the acceptance notification).

Winners will receive $4,000 in cash awards

Complete Projects:

  • 1st Prize: $1,500
  • 2nd Prize: $1,000
  • 3rd Prize: $500

Work In Progress Projects:

  • 1st Prize: $500
  • 2nd Prize: $300
  • 3rd Prize: $200
