Driving within the Arena at this event is regarded as a Grade 3 trip. Shotover 4WD Club Members will provide demonstrations of four-wheel driving in a dedicated activity site (Arena) with fences or barrier tape restricting access to the Arena.

Land Rover 75 Rally Participants (LR 75 Participants) attending the Event will drive in convoy through the Arena at set times. LR 75 Participants and Exhibitors may also drive within the Arena at other times by arrangement with the Club.

Planned activities (on 8th and / or 9th April) include:
9:00 am - 9:30 am Shotover 4WD Club members only.
9:40 am - 10:30 am LR75 vehicles in convoy follow a set course within the Arena
10:30 am- 12:30 pm Shotover Club members and LR75 individuals
12:30 - 1:00 pm - Arena closed
1:00 pm - 1:30 pm Shotover Club members and LR75 individuals
1:40 pm - 2:30 pm LR75 vehicles in convoy follow a set course within the Arena
2:30 pm - 4:00 pm Shotover Club members, LR75 individuals and Exhibitors (by arrangement)

Notes:
Shotover Club members and Exhibitors wishing to drive in the Arena must be current financial members of the Shotover 4WD Club.

Land Rover 75 Rally Participants (LR75 Participant) who wish to drive in the Arena must have first completed Land Rover Rally 75 registration. This registration allows the LR75 Participants to drive through the Arena in the scheduled LR75 convoy. LR75 Participants who wish to individually drive in the Arena at another time, must also be current financial members of the Shotover 4WD Club.

Marshals in the Arena, at gates or check in / check out will direct movements and manage the movements within the Arena to ensure there are no collisions or dangerous convergence at or approaching a hazard. Drivers must comply with instructions of marshals at all times and agree to comply with the Club Rules.

Hazards, Risks and Conditions for Participating
Trip conditions may change without notice. We anticipate the following:
Hazards: Bonnet-deep water crossings. (Snorkel required), hallow to medium ruts, mud bogs and water holes; Rocks and boulders on track; Moderate uphill / downhill sections; Slippery surfaces - clay, grass, silt, loose soil.
Risks: Vehicle getting stuck - requires recovery, Vehicle drowned - engine stops, Possible minor damage to vehicle (brush marks, scratches, dents, tyre damage), Possible significant damage to vehicle (sills, body panels), Vehicle breakdown / equipment failure, Rolling a vehicle, Loss of traction on hills or slippery surfaces, Underbody damage, Vehicle collision within the Arena, Risk of injury (during recovery or other incident), Limited access or delays for emergency services to remote areas).Spectators or unauthorised persons entering the Area.
Conditions for participating: Passengers participating in the Event must:
a. Take reasonable care for their own health and safety. If they have any medical conditions they must carry their own personal medication their medical conditions.
b. Take reasonable care that what they do (or do not do) does not adversely affect the health and safety of anyone else.
c. Comply with any reasonable instruction given by the Trip Leader of Committee Member so that it can comply with its health and safety obligations including all safe work procedures, rules and health and safety training.
d. Attend any trip briefings, ensuring they can hear it, and paying attention to the details. So far as is reasonably practicable, promote and where possible ensure the safety of all persons including Club members and members of the public. This means “taking responsibility for what you can control” This applies to everybody participating in or that could be affected by the Club’s event.

Definitions of key terms
"Agreement” means this Acknowledgement and Assumption of Risk form.
"Arena"  means the area at the Wheels at Wanaka Event grounds identified as the Shotover 4WD Club area in the Event Safety Plan
“Club” means the Shotover 4WD Club Incorporated.
“Event” means  the Shotover 4WD Club scheduled public display activities occurring  within the Arena as part of the Three Parks Wheels at Wanaka Event (Parent Event) on the 8th and 9th April 2023.
“Event Organisers” means all Club officials, Event marshals, event volunteers and  the Wheels at Wanaka organising committee for the Event and the Parent Event.
‘Exhibitor’ means a person registered as an Exhibitor for the Parent Event.
“Injury or Health-related problem” means any injury, health-related issue or illness including
mental health issues, head injuries, spinal cord injuries, paralysis.
“Minor” means the minor participant under 20 years of age travelling with me in my vehicle.
"Parent Event" means the Three Parks Wheels at Wanaka Event on the 8th and 9th April 2023.
“Participant”  means any Club member, Exhibitor or registered Land Rover 75 Rally attendee who registers as a driver or a passenger on the Club’s online registration form to enter the Arena to participate in four-wheel driving during the Event    .
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK
The Shotover 4WD Club is a not-for-profit organisation that aims to promote the sport of four wheel driving and facilitate participation in related trips and activities. Outdoor recreation carries with it certain inherent risks that cannot be eliminated regardless of the care and steps taken by the Club and Event Organisers.
As a participant, and on behalf of any minor participant or passenger travelling in my vehicle in the Event organised, recognised or sanctioned by the Shotover 4WD Club (“Club”) I hereby acknowledge and agree to the following terms and conditions in respect of my/our participation in the Event.

1. I/we are voluntarily engaging in the sport of Four Wheel Driving in the form of a Shotover 4WD Club trip or other activity (the Event).
2. I agree to comply with the Club Rules, and the Conditions for Participating in the Event specified in this registration form.
3. I have taken medical advice on any pre-existing medical conditions. I confirm that it is medically safe for me to participate in the Event and that I will carry with me personal medication required for any pre-existing medical conditions.
4. In consideration of my participation in the Event, I hereby:

a confirm that I am aware of and I accept that there are inherent serious hazards and risks associated with the sport of four wheel driving and Club Events in natural outdoor environments;
b acknowledge and accept that my participation in the same may result in an Injury or Health-related Problem, fatality, or loss to property;
c confirm that I am medically fit and appropriately experienced to safely participate in the Event of the said grade; and the equipment that I use or am responsible for in the Event is fit for purpose and will be used in accordance with manufacturers’ instructions;
d agree to immediately inform the Trip Leader if I become aware of a serious hazard or risk that may affect the health and safety of myself or others, that has not already been identified and managed;
e confirm that I have read and understood the hazards and risks identified by the Club in this registration form and agree to contribute to managing them as appropriate;
f assume responsibility for my own safety, and accept the inherent risks associated with my participation in the Event;
Furthermore, I am aware of and acknowledge:
g General hazards and risks identified by the Club here and the specific hazards and risks identified in this registration form;
h That my property may be damaged; and an Injury or Health-related Problem sustained during the Event can be severe and even fatal; and
i That the Club provides no warranties in respect of the health, safety and wellbeing of myself or any passengers travelling with me.

5. I understand and agree that situations may arise during the Event, which may be beyond the immediate control of the Event Organisers.
6. I will participate in the Event, in a manner that does not endanger either me or others and I acknowledge that I am responsible for the behaviour of any passengers in my vehicle and I will ensure any passengers do not endanger either me or others.
7. I agree that to the extent permissible by law, the Event Organisers (including all Shotover 4WD Club officials, Event marshals and event volunteers), Wheels at Wanaka Orgainising Committee, any sponsors and other parties associated with the Event, have no liability to me whatsoever for any direct or indirect loss, (including, but not limited to injury or death or damage to my vehicle or equipment) sustained by me during or in any way related to my participation in the Event.
8. I consent to receiving medical treatment in the event of illness or injuries suffered during or immediately after the Event.

I have read this Agreement, and by selecting that I “Agree” to it, I acknowledge and recognise:
1. I am the named person who completed this Agreement;
2. The hazards and risks identified by the Club here and in this registration form ;
3. I understand that the Agreement is binding upon myself, my heirs, executors, administrators and representatives and constitutes a release and discharge to the Club from all claims, liabilities, or causes of action I may have arising from my participation in this Event.
